If the point is that FOX is blu and the ad showed up on their broadcast, so what? What about HD DVD ads on ABC? Advertising money is the only reason that television networks are on. I see absolutely no problem with this.

I'm sure Paramount paid Fox a ton of cash to promote their movie. Keep in mind that Networks are greedy. I've also noticed Disney Bluray ads on the Universal HD Channel lately.

I saw back-to-back commercials for HD-DVD and Blu-ray last night on Discovery HD. The HD-DVD ad was for a Toshiba player and Transformers. The Blu-ray ad was for Spidey 3. There was another general Blu-ray commercial on earlier. I believe it was all Disney films.

id rather it be on the baseball playoffs that are getting beat ratings wie by the Food Channel, than the NFL. I think of the NFL as Starbucks, whatever city it is in, it will do wildly popular, where as baseball playoffs are like Dunkin Donuts, it is immensely popular in the Northeast but the further away you go it becomes less popular.

Didn't help Firefly. They advertised the crap out of it behind home plate while pre-empting it with the baseball they were showing and keeping people from watching it.

Pre-empt baseball with firefly, or show baseball in a PiP window, it's not like you miss anything that won't be on the highlight reel later anyway.

So 8 people watching the MLB game heard the message. Woo hoo.

Seriously though, businesses need capital. This isn't your own personal lemonade stand where you can pick and choose customers, because $3 will keep you going.

And it looks like someone here listens to The Herd on ESPN, because I heard the same Dunkin Donuts / Starbucks analogy the other day.

BTW, DD is returning to Las Vegas after a 10+ year absence. There will eventually be 62 stores coming.

Has anyone besides me noticed just how crappy the HD PQ is on Fox's HD broadcast of the playoffs? It seems like they're not using HD cameras....the standard view from CF is good HD, the views from the foul lines coming into the infield are good, but all the cameras facing the outfield from behind the plate are awful, especially the closeup shot of the pitchers face-it jitters a lot.

Can't Fox afford enough decent cameras? lol
