Default Pioneer 1020 question

I have owned the Pioneer for almost two years now and have been rather happy with it. I came from an Onkyo 606 with the wonderful hdmi issue and have had zero problems from the Pioneer.

However my question is about the discrepancy between the volume of internal test tones and the tones from my DVE disc. With the tones on the receiver, when zeroed out they are still about 77db, now I know that the test tones aren't the most accurate measure but as long as they all match on my RS SPL meter, the number of the reading shouldn't matter, correct? My DVE disc shows the levels to be 75db with the MCACC set levels and master volume at 0, but they are all still cut up front and rears boosted slightly. I thought we would always want to use one speaker at odb in the receiver and the master volume set for it to be 75db?

So I guess my question is, does it really matter about all the speakers being cut or boosted? I know that the internal EQ is bypassed on the internal tones so I know it won't be completely accurate. So should I just zero out the left front and use that as a reference for the rest and not worry about the number on the spl meter as long as I can get them to match?

Thanks
