Default is there an average monthly budget people put aside for movies each month

not sure if this in the right section
but with black friday coming up, it seemed safe to ask if people on the site have a monthly budget they set aside for movies, or is it whatever they want they get

for me i can't go out and get everything i want, it's maybe like one or 2 movies a month not counting digital copies, but then more on black friday since a few movies that look good are 2.99 or 3.99

i though it would be fun to see if members generally have the same range of budgets or if it differs majorly among members

have fun :P

My budget for Blu-rays varies from month-to-month, because it depends on how much disposable cash I spend for other entertainment during that month (running races, music, concerts, hanging out with friends, etc.). If nothing much is going on during a particular month, then that means more money for Blu-rays if I so desire, or more money to put aside for a big Blu-ray purchase the following month.

I have a rule about only using money from my bank account on Blu-ray purchases and never using my credit card. As long as I follow that guideline, all is well.

Depends on the month and what I want to get. I usually try to plan out 4 months ahead (I know. I sound like a wacko, right?). If something comes up, then that takes priority over movies, of course.

I'm pretty much at the point now where I'm usually only getting new releases. I have everything I want unless of course, I discover something I haven't heard of and end up wanting it. Lately I've been spending about $60 a week on blu rays, but I don't have a set amount I put aside. As long as my bills are paid or I have money set aside for them, I get what I want. I'm lucky though, my wife is totally cool with it and enjoys movies just as much as me. We honestly don't really have many other hobbies. We have a two year old son that keeps our hands full and have very little down time which we usually spend on watching movies. Also, buying Christmas presents for my son slowly over the year has really helped during this time of year. We're not dedicating all of our money right now to that because all of our shopping is done.

Yeah, I don't really go anywhere or do anything, so I have a decent amount of disposable income. But my monthly budget fluctuates based on what's out. The summer was pretty weak - maybe one or two a week, but many weeks I didn't buy anything. But November is absolutely NUTS. Tomorrow alone is TNG: Season 5, TNG: The Other One, TREME, and THE WORLD'S END. Two weeks is that big BREAKING BAD set. But then January will hit and it'll be largely one a week again.

Not really, if there's a good sale and I actually got the cash to spend (i.e. no bills to pay or groceries to buy), I go for it.

I used to buy more. Maybe c.$40-$50 a month? But there are still a couple of dozen titles I've bought over the last couple of years that I still haven't watched, and so I'm trying to go almost cold turkey until I actually watch those. But almost every month there's some bargain or must have movie that I get. But I'm down to maybe about $25 a month on average now.

But I just got the 5th season of Star Trek Next Gen for $58. I know I'll watch this whole season with the kids and get a lot of fun out of it, and so it was a bargain.

Well so far I want

Zatoichi Criterion blind buy $85.00 if lucky

Breaking Bad Final Season $32.00

Fast and Furious 6 $24.00

Shameless Season 3 $35.00

Your Next $20.00

Thief Criterion $30.00

Carrie (2013) $20.00

The Spectacular Now $20.00

Riddick Trilogy $35.00

About 300 dollars worth of blurays for November, December, January. On top of the 150 or so I already spent this month on Blu. It adds up.

I don't buy many blurays so I don't spend that much cash on them but I do tend to spend more cash near Christmas on blu rays.

Step 1 : Pay bills
Step 2 : Save established %
Step 3 : Buy what I want with the remaining money

I can spend $200 one month and $0 the next. It's all about the available promotions. I only buy stuff when it reaches 50% off and below.

I don't really have a budget, but I tend to keep an eye on how much I spend and will slow down a bit if I see my credit card bill being higher for a particular month than it usually is.

I'm a natural saver, so I try no to spend more than I have in my checking account at a given time. I have another savings account that I don't pull from unless it's an emergency, so as long as I don't need to withdraw funds from that account to pay my bills, I'm not spending more than I'm making.

It all depends.

Some months I don't buy anything at all. There's always a couple titles that I'll buy on release week. And on black friday week or U&S, I might spend a $100 or so.
