Question What IYO is the most disappointing catalogue release of 2012?

It's almost the end of the year,so i'd like to know what catalogue title(s) has disappointed you the most (so far) this year;in terms of picture quality, above all,but also in terms of (overall) packaging, provided supplements etc.

Off the top of head,my choice would be The Color of Money.

Cinderella had alot of negative buzz, maybe the most negative buzz out of all this year's catalogue's (not counting indy's packaging) how about that?

Maybe Deep Rising/Puppet Masters Bluray. Picture quality isn't great. Wasn't overly impressed with Gremlins 2 either. I also hate "movie only" blurays. By now you think they would give us something more.

Pretty good year for releases I cared about, overall.
I'm pretty bummed about the apparently problematic DNRd release of Children of Paradise, especially coming from Criterion.
Chinatown could've been handled better. Heard The Sting was pretty lousy but no surprise there. Slightly disappointed with another major release but it shall go unnamed.

The Sting followed closely by The Deer Hunter.

Not happy with the overly DNR'd Goldeneye.

Only catalog titles I've been disappointed by were a couple of DVDs: The "last gasp" Roger Corman releases from Shout, "Naked Angel" and "Sweet Kill". Otherwise, 2012 has been mostly great.

not sure how Criterion can be faulted for Pathe's work on CoP.
Pathe is the entity that restored the film and then ruined the transfer with unnecessary dnr.
as far as most disappointing catalog release that's easy--
HITCHCOCK masterpiece collection.
how could it be any other title?

Though I can't figure myself a bad catalogue, that I bought this year, I believe you nailed it because this is a freaking $30 catalogue title.

Bullshit.

If only half of Universal's DNR cluster****s looked like Deep Rising.

If the They Live master that Universal gave to Shout looked like Deep Rising, I'd be dancing around the room, with my pants on my head.

Children of Paradise Criterion Collection - Pathe's fault due to their presentation handed over to C.C.

Indiana Jones - because the movies werent released seperately. Or, at least just release the trilogy without that Crystal Turd stuff.

GoldenEye (DNR/EE/old master)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (high contrast/color timing)
A View to a Kill (zoomed in/missing camera shake)
You Only Live Twice (color timing/pink tint)
Diamonds are Forever (contrast/color timing/washed out colors)
The Living Daylights (same screwed up color timing from UE)
Tomorrow Never Dies (old master)

Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (too numerous to list)

Raiders of the Lost Ark (new color timing)

I'm sure there are more that I can't remember offhand.

Good one. This.

Great film, high profile director, huge stars and this release barely makes it over the 'better than the DVD' bar?

Very disappointing.
