I don't like the look of the listing for this, which gives the aspect ratio as 2.35: 1, which would mean it's been mastered from the 35mm print in standard Panavision. But this film was, I believe, the last which Fox shot in Todd-AO, a 70mm process which because of its projected height had a screen ratio of 2.20: 1. Given the astonishing results Fox obtained in their transfers of Cleopatra and The Sound of Music (and Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, so I'm told by people who've seen it: unavailable here) all also shot in Todd-AO, I sincerely hope that the Blu-ray.com rubric is wrong.

This film was shot in 65mm in Todd-AO, a new 70mm DTS print was made in
2002 so this should come from these 65mm elements. Dont go by Aspect Ratios on covers The Guns of Navarone says 1.85.1 on the cover but the disc is 2.55.1. |

Have pre-ordered on Sainsburys.co.uk at £9.99 and hoping that it will be at 2.20:1. This was one of the last great musicals and is great news. Also coming is 'The Eagles Final Tour - Melbourne' and so I can say goodbye to my HD DVD which is a great disc.
