Im personally waiting for these to be in the $2-300 range and discs in the $5 range before jumping in.

I don't get why people even look at the pioneer model. They can't even read/write CD's. They lack in the DVD-RAM department, and overall I haven't had great experience with them.

Its a half-assed drive for release, Panasonic, Sony etc do a much better job with full DVD/RAM/CD's etc.

Search google for Panasonic SW-5582 and look at the specs in comparison, you'll see what I mean (and they're pretty much the same price!!)
