Default Deadtime Stories (1986) - February 28, 2017

This title will be released on february 28. I find it strange that there isn't a thread about this already. Will you be buying this? I watched the movie and have mixed feelings about it.

I've already pre-ordered and paid for Deadtime Stories, so it's just a matter of checking my mailbox now. Woo hoo!

I always love it when I pre-order a movie months and deduct the money from my checking account months in advance, and then forget that I even pre-ordered it. Months later, it shows up in my mailbox and I feel as though I'm getting a free movie.

I remember that cover art drawing me in as a kid at the rental stores but remember the film vaguely. A quick stop at youtube to check out the trailer and remember snippets of the film but I think I will be passing on this one

I pre-ordered this. Is it better than Nightmares (1983)? I wasn't a big fan of that one.

I'm a Melissa Leo fan, so it is cool to see her in Deadtime Stories. I can't believe they got her for an interview for this movie. It is nice to see she isn't ashamed of her past. I wonder what she thinks of Streetwalkin' (1985). I would love that movie, and Vice Squad (1982), on Blu-ray.

It's definitely not. Very low budget and the stories really are kind of shitty (especially the first story, they get slightly better once you make it past that one); the best one is the middle Red Riding Hood story with the awesome Matt Mitler. It's a fun curio and has that 80s horror charm, but it's objectively awful.

My god, what an awful film this was - 'Deadtime Stories.' Somehow, I missed this years ago, but it's as bad as that movie with Teddy - The Pit.

For the poster asking if it is better than 'Nightmares '83'? NO! It's 10 times worse. So, if you don't like 'Nightmares '83,' you are not going to like this stinker.

I know where you are coming from. I don't love 'Nightmares' either, but at least I thought it was average. I gave it 2 out of 4 stars. I liked it for the first slasher story and the video game story.

But 'Deadtime Stories'... No... Avoid. 0 out of 4 stars. I almost wanted to be nice and give it .5 out of 4 stars, but I couldn't do it - only because the movie was made at all and has a cool case.

Thank for the advice. I was wondering why nobody was talking about this release.

Man, Scream Factory is really scraping the bottom of the barrel these days. I bet they have the most money out of any "boutique" label, so I'm not sure why they don't try to work with a new studio. Seriously, how can they keep surviving if they release these super obscure lousy movies.

Well, it must take all kinds, because this is the Scream Factory title I was most looking forward to in 2017, and I'm really happy with this release. The PQ is fantastic, and it's got a load of great extras.

I agree, it is a lousy movie and made Nightmares look like Citizen Kane. A very regretful blind buy. And on top of that the case was cracked so badly during the shipment that I needed (and received) a replacement , even the sleeve art on the spine was torn a little

Think Ill avoid blind buying Demented now..

Preordered this using Target's Buy 2 get 1 free. Also preordered Tales From The Hood and Serial Mom (a personal favorite).

I'm a huge fan of anthology films so I can't wait to check this out for the first time in glorious HD!

Psycho '98 has to be the worst Shout Factory pickup by far. I mean, I've never seen anyone praise it. In fact, everyone seems to agree the film shouldn't exist, yet, here it is. Having said that, I'd rather grab an old school "stinker" like Deadtime Stories than something like Psycho '98, Species IV or Supernova. I've actually never seen Deadtime Stories but I have a feeling I'll enjoy it. I always seem to like stuff nobody else does.

I thought the last story in the movie was so terrible it was hard to watch, if you can find a way to watch this before buying I suggest you do so. It may help you save your hard earned money
