Vinegar Syndrome shipping question

Has any who ordered from VS Halfway to Black Friday sale recieved their orders yet? Or a shipping notification? It's almost been a month, just curious if that was normal wait time for these type of sales. Thanks!!

Very normal. They get an obscene amount of orders, plus folks that keep adding to their orders. They shut down in June for Partner Label month so they can focus on shipping out the Halfway orders.

If you're not a subscriber, then it's totally normal to have not heard anything yet. I'm not a subscriber and I haven't heard anything, but rest assured, they'll get your order out to you!

Same here, this was my first time putting in an order with them and I was starting to wonder as well. Good to know this is normal for the sale!

I made my first order as well and did not realize how long it would take to ship. I went ahead and cancelled the order a couple of days ago and placed the same order on DeepDiscount and it has already shipped.

I was surprised to see most of my items for less at DD than the halfway to black Friday sale prices at VS - and then I could use a 15% off code on top of that.

I tried to support the smaller operation, but a month is a little too much.

One of the primary draws of Vinegar Syndrome titles are their limited edition slips and hard cases which are not sold by most retailers. Places like Orbit & Diabolik offer limited amounts of these for sale, but the major retailers like DeepDiscount, Amazon, etc. do not. This is one of the big reasons these VS sales draw so much traffic and the reason shipping takes so long. If you aren’t interested in the slips, places like DD are great for a cheaper option.

I hadn't even thought of that but checked on DD and 4 of the 5 titles I wanted were in stock (one on backorder) and it came to $7 cheaper with even the 10% discount. So I cancelled the VS order, like you said... close to a month is ridiculous and I don't keep slipcovers.

Don't know if you ordered more recent releases that weren't actually on sale? Nothing released this year was on sale. Also a big part of VS collecting is their thick high quality slips usually featuring alternate art to the inside cover. Also with their rewards system in place starting this year, for anyone who anticipates wanting future titles from them, it's good to buy direct cause your earning points towards future discounts, plus they'll send you review invites which you can get more points from. They really further incentivized buying direct with these newer programs, in the past all someone who bought elsewhere would've been missing out on was a slip or hardbox packaging. I'm not obsessive over slips, I have to care about the movie, and the slip art actually has to be good. I thought the slip for Boogeyman sucks.

They clearly said they were beginning shipping in June 5th. Basically two weeks ago. So relax with the "month”

Besides the obvious (slips and special editions), I have to say what sets VS apart from other boutique labels or just retailers like DD is the care they put into everything, from the restoration of the film, to the packaging used in shipping*, and should something go wrong, the customer service.

In regards to shipping during sales, they have a pretty specific order with subscribers first, flash preorders 2nd, etc. so if you just happened upon the middle of the sale there are likely thousands of orders already placed, all waiting to be packaged after the sale ends so that customers can continue to make purchases up until the last minute.

It’s kind of a strange process so it’s completely understandable why someone looking to just pick up a few discounted titles without any of the bells and whistles might not want to go directly to VS during a big sale.

*Well what do you know…got home from seeing Diana Ross perform (still can’t believe it myself) and there’s a package with 3 carefully bubble wrapped bundles of movies, snuggly packed together & sealed with the VS branded tape, waiting on my door step. Tis a beautiful sight indeed. Sometimes it’s worth the wait…

Got my order from DD. Looking forward to watching Sister Sister and Freeway tonight.

Absolutely get that some do want the slips and other extras. Makes sense to go through VS. I am just all about catching some interesting (and sometimes great) flicks - along with some tasty waves.
