A Perfect Storm is a decent film, but it's one of those that's so depressing that watching it once or twice is enough IMHO. If you've seen The Poseidon Adventure you'll quickly realize that Poseidon is rubbish. Twister is easily the best of the lot and is worth owning.

if Warner's can give 'The Fugitive' a new transfer - 'Twister' seems like the obvious second choice - a new print and lossless DTS audio

I have it. It's def worth a purchase if you don't have the 3 already.

Perfect Storm is the schnitz. The Twister has unnecessary plot of in-law issues which serves as filler, which makes me fast forward / skip those scenes whenever I watch the movie. Poseidon seems out of place as it seem like more of survival than natural havoc (haven't seen it yet though). Plus, the Perfect Storm is about water already.

I would have liked a trio of Perfect Storm, Day After Tomorrow, and Dante's Peak. Those 3 are killers but may not be possible due to different outfits.

2012 is another awesome catastrophe movie, and current at that.

I would like Hollywood to make fire storm movie, especially set in the cities. Gas pipe explosions. Volcano is kind of fantasy / forced disaster film. Natural disasters films got to be as natural as can be to make it compelling and not corny.

There's more than 1 way to destroy Earth and this is the year to release them. C'mon Hollywood! Astonish and scare us with great calamity CGIs.

I have DVDs of Twister and Storm and nothing of Poseidon. Is Poseidon any good?

I'd say it's pretty decent. If you like the Poseidon adventure, it's a remake of that but is probably a bit different than the original, can't be sure. I'm not sure i can't remember watching the original much.

I have the UK release of Twister, and the A/V quality is superior to the U.S release. I've sold the U.S release immediately afterwards.

Are these triple feature sets really 3 separate discs? I was going to buy the Friday/Nightmare triple feature, but the case seem to thin to fit 3 discs?

I think this is not a remake of the Poseidon Adventure (1972) which starred Ernest Borgnine. There is a made-for-TV film of exactly the same title that I am thinking would be the possible remake (2005), which stars Steve Guttenberg.

This movie in the triple feature is titled "Poseidon" (2006) which stars Kurt Russell and Emma Rossum. I just watched it and it is quite the suspense-ride. I liked the execution and is a nice part of the triple feature.

Now I'm ready to buy this triple feature! Bring on some more!

If you like these movies, then it's definitely worth getting.

I got the triple feature for $9.99 during the holidays, and am really glad I did.

Twister

Film: 4,25 Nonstop action
PQ: 3,5 It's clean, and all, but very flat looking most of the time. It's watchable, but won't blow anyone away. Still much better than the DVD. No contest. It's not smeary, but it feels like DNR has been applied pretty much throughout. Detail is average.
AQ: 5 This is a real hurricane in your HT! Sweet!

The Perfect Storm

Film: 4 Pretty good, although I can't identify with any of the characters, and the score by James Horner is not my taste, but the storm is amazing, and ILM's work on this film is still incredible!

PQ: 4 Pleasing. Just 1-2 instances of banding. Detail is pretty good to very good. Not much to criticize here. Expected much worse.

AQ: 4,5 Very good, but not as deep as Twister.

I'll update this after watching Poseidon.

Three ILM films for 10 bucks is a mighty fine deal!

Update:

Watched Poseidon, and really loved it.

It's a thrill ride from beginning until the end, after the rogue wave that is.

Film: 4,5
PQ: 4 The first shot looked a bit too processed for my taste, and I caught a few bandings, but other than that. No complaints from me.
AQ: 4,5

Awesome deal!
