It's certainly not the most stupid...but it's certainly close.

Actually that is a question to ponder. I'll say GREEN because right now that's the color of money and reg. DVD's still rake in a ton.

I always wondered why you guys over there add those "u's" to various words.

You're right. U.S. spelling tried to simplify things (so it's shorter - I heard that from my U.S. teacher). "Colours" has been around longer (maybe influenced by French).

I used to use U.S. spelling, but completely changed to British English spelling completely as I feel more comfortable with it.

colour
standarised
etc.

I so wish I was born in the UK and not in America, I mean... sure I love America but come on we don't have the cool accents.
as soon as I get out of this wheel chair man i'm flying out there!

anyways... *cough* back to the subject... regular colour for DVDs... hmm, i'll say a orange/yellowish, you know... something close to the colour of piss, oooooh!

Americans don't have accents?!

Reminds me of a story by a guy I trained with. He is now a citizen, but originally from Panama. He learned American English with a Midwestern accent, and when he came to the states for job interview in Alabama, the taxicab ride (no foreign cab drivers in Birmingham, now) frightened him into thinking he could never succeed in the states, because he could not understand a word the cabby said. Certainly, things are becoming more homogeneous, but as a Midwesterner, you should be able to distinguish Minnesota from Wisconsin from Chicago from St. Louis from Southern Ohio.

What I want to know, is how the 's' got changed to a 'z' in -ize

^^
For the record, you can find foreign born cabbies in Birmingham these days. The bigger problem would be finding a cab.
