United Kingdom Owning both bluray AND dvd...

If you own both the bluray and dvd of the movie, do you display both of them on your shelves/cabinets etc.?

I only keep the DVD if some or all of the extra features are missing on the Blu-ray. This currently amounts to 60 or 70 titles. I just keep them in a box as I prefer to keep them separate and my DVD shelves are full enough

It's annoying when there are no special features on the Blu-ray. It's even more annoying when there is only one thing missing such as a deleted scene as I would rather not have to keep the DVD

Singin' In The Rain was a good case in point. The extra features on the original 1st disc DVD weren't all carried over. Also the 40 Year Old Virgin is missing one deleted scene, but that's a debate for another thread

I have sold most of my DVD's and those that are left are the one's that aren't yet available on Blu-ray but they are in a box in the spare room.

I put the DVDs in the blu-ray cases, and keep them all in one case (my Stargate blu-ray case has the blu-ray, and 5 DVDs in it, as those DVDs are from different regions, and have different bonus features on them that were not transferred to the blu-ray disc).

That way, I save a bit of space, and can get rid of DVD cases at the same time, lol.

I give away or sell DVDs when I get the Blu-ray. Box-sets I keep displayed, most of the rest are taken out of their boxes and kept in multi-disc storage cases.

Seperate shelves for my DVDS and Blu Rays. As my collection increases, I will probably get rid of most my DVD'S bar my Dr Who collection.

My few remaining DVD's are in my man cave upstairs, All the DVD's I own are unavailable on BD. Every now and then I'll give one a spin but the quality really puts me off now, Terrible in most instances when your primary viewing is Blu....That's evolution

Since my dvd collection is a lot bigger than my bluray one (only about 115 titles/1300) I display both.

At this point of the game it would be a hassle to sell my collection to even bother to upgrade. Its a lot of money lol I usually buy new movies on bd but if I have say, parts 1 and 2 on DVD then I would get the following sequel on the same format: MIB3. Unless I really love the movie/franchise like Star Wars, Spider-Man, Nolan's Batman.

Same here. I have a small shelf that stores most of my DVDs and the other shelf stores all my Blu-rays and some more DVDs. I have recently started to box a number of my DVDs and have sold some on eBay.

I agree with the above post about quality.

I hate watching DVDs now. Even when upscaled it doesn't come anywhere close to bluray, and that really puts me off.

I think I am going to gut my collection, and any duplicates I have on DVD will go into storage.

I am upgrading my dvd collection but find I'd rather be buying something on blu-ray that don't own yet.

After I'm done I should just have those movies on DVD that haven't been released on blu-ray.

The only ones I keep are in a 24 sleeve pouch cd holder.

Mainly stuff which will never be released on blu ray such as

Irish films like The Commitments, The General, The Field, The Van, The Snapper, Intermission, My Left Foot, Waking Ned

Concerts from the likes of The Doors and Chili Peppers

And a load of WWF stuff I picked up on the cheap

My DVD collection was crap, mostly stuff on offer in HMV which was still overpriced by comparison to today; I really need to shift it on.

The rest are all locked away with PS1/PS2 games

I sold off all my DVDs which I knew I was getting on blu ages ago - while the going was still good and some of them were still worth something - in fact, some paid for the blu's!

Ive still got a lot of DVDs though - almost all of which will never be on blu for one reason or another. Ive got quite a few DVDs which I just dont want to get on blu too.

I keep my DVD collection separate from my Blu-Rays. I've been collecting DVD's from the day they came out and have yet to sell one. At the last count there were well over 8000, some signed by cast and crew members.

The plan was to replace some of them with Blu-Rays but so far I've not had the heart.

I keep them altogether in the same room, but blu-ray's have their own space and DVD's have their own space.
Having said that, I've just given my younger Brother about a hundred DVD's to make a bit of space. All stuff I've now got on blu-ray.

I keep the DVD in with the Bluray. I buy double disc Amaray cases for this. Very handy.

Ditto, saves space and allows me to use the DVD cases as padding for the back of the shelf.
