Default Battleship Steelbook - Region 1 playable?

I have a question: I want to purchase a steelbook of Battleship. I live in the United States and obviously Battleship was not released in a steelbook in the US. I tried to do some research on which release was region 1, or even region 0. I use a Playstation 3 as a blu-ray player, and would really love to try to get one to play.

Can anyone tell which is the best copy to play on a region 1 ps3? Anyone who can speak from experience? I think some people bought this in the states, and I would love to figure out how to go about this.

Thanks to anyone with any information.

A quick search (on this very site) and you would see that it is a Universal release, ala, region free

It's universal so it's gonna be region free. You can get it from the uk or Germany. Either one will be playable.

An easy way to figure out if a release is region free or not is to type in the name of the movie in search bar at the top of the page. Pic the country that it was released in. It will show you which variations the movie was released in. Once you click the page for that title, it tells you whether or not it is region locked or not. In the case of Battleship, it is only for region A and B.

I have another question: I'm trying to choose which international steelbook to purchase. I was thinking I would buy one of the 2-disc editions, so I could replace the discs with my US blu-ray and best-buy bonus disc.

My question is this: I want to get the steelbook version that is the same shape as regular US steelbooks. I was looking into getting the French steelbook, but everywhere I looked said it was "G1" sized, and it looked like a DVD steelbook to me. So I was thinking of getting the German steelbook. This one.

I'd really like to get one with two disc hubs, but also the size US blu-ray steelbooks (like Amazing Spider-Man.) Is this the right one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

all EU Battleship steelbooks are G2 (BD size), and they're all the same (UK/FRE/GER: btw UK one is 1 disc only): on amazon.de/.it you can find it at 21/22€

Warner French steelbooks are G1 (DVD size), and this movie is Universal, so don't worry
