Default Retailers and their steelbook packaging

Ok, this threads to give members a heads up on what sort of steelbook packaging they can expect to usually receive their shiny steelbooks in. I will start compiling all the various steelbook packaging by both region and retailers.

To get this thread compiled and off the ground. I need members to post up pictures from their respective countries. I'll also try tracking some of the pics for those in the UK from our own retailers.

I'll start putting the pictures together with retailer names in a full comprehensive list below. This is because the biggest gripe is that almost all members have complained at some point at receiving a damaged steelbook but some retailers are worse than others. Amazon and Play seem to lead the pack in the UK for best protection as of recent. So, post your pics guys and let's inform others including those that might have their mind swung to go with a certain retailer over another when the price difference is small

Play.com

Amzon UK

My Batman steelbook was delivered from HMV yesterday. Turned up in a jiffy bag with no damage so I'm pleased with that

I think it's safe to say that the steelbooks the size of that Batman double bill are very under protected. I was actually shocked at the lack of even bubble wrap, but fortunately i received mine without any damage at all as well which was a pheew' moment

Their cardboard packaging i received my standard sized steelbook in was a bit in need of bubble wrap or something but it was definitely solid enough to take a few knocks here and there.

Best packaging = play.com
Also good packaging, but not perfect = Amazon (all Amazon's use the same steelbook packaging).

Don't know about HMV lol.

Play.com usually have decent packaging, and, due to their new "best ever" steelbook packaging, all my orders have turned up well and not dented. However, there have been a couple of occasions where they've only come in a Jiffy packet and there's been a moment of complete panic, only to find that all was well and nothing was damaged

Amazon UK are usually decent as well, and I've never had anything broken or dented from them, even though their packaging looks like it doesn't protect very well (but it clearly must do )

I haven't bought from HMV for a while, but the last steelbooks I bought (which were DVDs!) were packaged well, from what I remember - well, the cases are fine as I look at them now, so it must have been alright. However, with a few steelbook pre-orders from them at the moment, I'm hoping that those get here in mint condition too!

hmv.hk are excellent with packaging steelbooks. the steelie is wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap and stuffed in between thick cardboard flaps and shipped in a bubble mailer. No special "box" needed, just a lil bit of love and care.

From your thread's title alone - Its bound going no-where

Why(s)

1. The Thread Title is CONFUSING (Retailers? or ONLINE Retailers) .. The word ONLINE would entice more to check and give feedback

2. You started with a single point of sales which is UK that adds more Isolation (Retailer then UK)

3. You think most would care about the packaging if They are not from UK?

4. You created a thread as if you can order directly from Canada's Futureshop or Americans can Directly order shipped here from UK's Play.com.

5. It would be a waste of time posting images of packaging given that if the destination is OUT OF SCOPE of an Online Retailer.. It Doesnt Make Sense (example, Im an American, do you think I would care how it is delivered to you by Play.com?)

6. You did not even though of "BULK" Order (hey, this community/forum rely more on Group orders *especially across other countries than a selfish one steelbook shipped to a person)

Australia Amazon SteelBook Packaging

Recently from Amazon.co.uk I purchased Double Indemnity and The Lost Weekend SteelBooks in the same order. For some reason they decided to ship each Steelbook in individual packages. Well.... Double Indemnity arrived today and to my surprise Amazon.co.uk has comeup with a particular package for their SteelBooks, the only catch is that its one package per SteelBook. And yes, the SteelBook arrived in perfect condition.

Be nice

Not sure which gifs members would use themselves for above obvious troll so i posted them all. Troll doesn't care that OP is starting with his own native country as he can get pics himself and then has to wait on pics from other members from various regions. Doesn't seem to realise or care that steelbook packaging only seems to apply for online purchases as they come through the post and B&M stores you physically go yourself.

So, i'd say this damn troll seems to be getting away with quite a lot of crap by the mods. I don't know why they let you, but your going on my ignore list so enjoy this last response from me cause i won't be responding to you anymore

EDIT: Just seen he's suspended now. The grey and rainy weather outside actually shines for a second lol

From my battles.....
Rated 10 for Best and 1 for worst

6 HMV - Flimsy cardboard box, does seem to do a decent job.
2 Amazon.com, or.ca - No SteelBook packaging yet, just thrown in box and shipped.
2 Futureshop - just thrown in box and shipped.
1 Best Buy - Single STeelBooks have arrived in a poly envelope with no bubble wrap before or cardboard mailer. Multiples are just thrown in box with air bubbles, Always best to buy a few from Best Buy.
9 kimchidvd- Awesome, each steelbook in wrapped or wrapped together
10 Mixup.com - Awesome, they bubblewrap everything including Amarays on my orders, usually 10+ items
8 Amazon.fr, uk, es, it and de- Special box which does a great job unless its crushed.
6 Amazon.jp - Ok, everything is bundled together which prevents movement however no bubble wrap
9 play asia- Order was bubble wrapped and neatly packaged. All Steels has bubble wrap on them
10 jsdvd-they care about collectors, triple layered thick bubble wrap.
10 ksdvd- they care about collectors, triple layered thick bubble wrap.

No they don't. Amazon.ca's packaging I found to be awful, just jiffy envelopes, and 1 of my steels was damaged

Yeah after being used to the incredible Play.com packaging, it was a shock to get Departed in today from Amazon.ca in just a jiffy bag! Thankfully it wasn't dented. I wonder how long Play will offer this packaging for free before they decide to charge a premium for it?

Received 4 steels this morning from Amazon.it, that were simply stuffed into a big cardboard envelope.

1 was mint, the other 3 with have only small dints on them but theyre still going back

Not happy, once I return them, they can refund me some of the postage as well!!
