Is there anything that bothers you the most with today's movies? Would it be that there is always that "tolken person", who doesn't seem to fit in at all with the crowd he is with but they have to appeal to everyone so they add them to the cast? The use of over the top special effects just to get you to the theater even though you know the movie will suck? 3D hype? Etc, etc, etc...
Well, what are some things that bother you? And what are some things that you would like to see more of? |

It irks me when there's a token tolken that's Tolkien that aspires to become the toll-taking, tall-talking Toll King!

What irks me is the same thing that irks me in any decade of film. There are good movies, great movies, bad movies, etc......in each decade. No decade is perfect and again each decade has its share of irk issues as well as well made films. Got Em!!

O think in the past 5 years or so I have been really disappointed with the lack of good music in films. Either original scores which have become repetitive, derivative and just non-interesting all together or good songs being put into films.

Teal and orange, digital color grading in general.
Shakycam Steadicam Lack of elegance in editing Digital photography CGI Metrosexual fashion model "actors" Lack of ambitious films aimed above a 15 year old's mentality Lack of interesting new filmmakers with any experiences outside of video games, TV, movies, filmschool and being in the filmmaking business. Where are the John Fords? Sam Fullers? John Hustons? Hell even an Oliver Stone. Last edited by Strevlac; 12-08-2012 at 06:21 PM. |

Like anything, if a movie is done well and is brilliant, any film-making cliches can be used and transcended. The same problems continue to blight Hollywood; terrible directors that are constantly re-hired, safe projects and too much studio interference to make everything all conventional and samey. Oh, and don't get me started on remakes. |

It irks me when anyone in a movie (or real life) can't properly pronounce "nuclear". It is NOT "nu-CU-lar"! It's "nu-CLE-ar"
There is no "U" between the C and the L!!!! ![]() (only slightly less annoying is people who say "jew-ler-y" instead of "jew-el-ry", "artic" instead of "arctic", etc... They aren't even tricky spelling! Is is so hard to look at the letters in a word and pronounce it properly?? ![]() Last edited by cinemaphile; 12-08-2012 at 06:55 PM. |
