It seems like people are complaining just for the sake of complaining.
1. If you already own a PS3, you don't need BC on PS4. Sure it would be convenient for one system to play all your games, but its not a perfect world and most people are not willing to pay the price of a PS4 if it were B/C. 2. When PS4 comes out and you buy one, you most likely will not be playing your old PS3 games very often. I just don't get it. I have a PS3 and plan on getting a PS4. Yes BC would be nice.... but its not a big deal to me. I also realize that including B/C would mean the PS4 would be wayyyy more expensive. If Sony were to do that, then people would just complain about the console being too expensive. You can't have your cake and eat it too. |

I really don't have space for two consoles, a receiver and my DVR. But obviously when/if I get a PS4 I'll have to put it somewhere. But I'm not whining or complaining about it, I knew they wouldn't have BC in it. I'll deal with it when the time comes. Also...people complain to complain. Especially on the internet. Always has to be something. |

I don't have space for two systems unless the PS4 is super tiny. There's still a ton of great games I haven't played on the PS3 as well so the lack of native BC means I probably won't be upgrading to the PS4 for a few years. The lack of PS2 BC on the PS3 sucks. I'd love to play Kingdom Hearts, and a bunch of other games on it.

Backwards compatibility is very important. Like for instance, I can no longer play most of my PS2 games just because Sony took out the backwards compatibility from the PS3. If I could still play them, I would. Like when I got my 1st PS3 which was a 60GB, I would play a PS2 game for a little while and then play a PS3 game.
I don't have room to have a 100 consoles laying around. Plus even if I could, it's not like they'll last forever since consoles do tend to break down. |

1: i don't have space for 2 consoles.
2: i don't want to have to buy 2 consoles just for gaming. it seems like it would be such a minor thing to add on. ![]() oh well.....i just won't be upgrading until i'm done w/the games i currently own. |

I guess that BC is a question of not feeling cheated. You know if you spend many thousands on games + controllers, when you buy the new console it feels more an upgrade than completly turn the rest obseleted. I don't say its a rational way to think but I know for sure that it is part of my feeling. On PS3 with PS2 was more important to me to have wireless controls in addition to upscaling and shelve space.
Up to now I'm not to sold on PS4, No focus on 3d (when sony just got through a crazy push over 3d... and I felt for it...) DS3 not compatible (I can't imagine that every game will have gimmick new control (touch pad + move... remember how long game had sixaxis controls?) No BC on psn game nor other ps games. Killzone 4 looks great, but it looks the same killzone game with prettier graphics. |

I just had this conversation with my nephew last night. Niether one of us much care if the PS4 has B/C or not. Personally I have some great gaming memories (MGS on PS1, KOTOR on XBox). However, I have no real desire to relive them in this new gaming age. Everything is so much more advanced I find it difficult to except last gen graphics after witnessing current ones.

I would like to keep backwards compatibility simply because I have a huge backlog of PS3 games waiting to be played and I've already gone thru four or five PS3 systems. Have three PS3s sitting in my house at this very moment, an old 60 GIG with the YLOD error that I need to get repaired, a Slim and the newer Super-Slim. Even the Slim has already been repaired once and it still will randomly reset on me during gameplay. Was really hoping the PS4 would keep the ability to play old games while also being more stable and overheating resistant.
Now I know they are implementing that Gaikai (sp?) with streaming games but I live in the middle of nowhere and the best internet available is billed as 12Mbps but during peak times (6pm - 11pm) the speed is less than 1Mbps meaning streaming anything is nearly impossible. Anyway, it is not a deal breaker. I will simply wait till they come out with a game worth playing on the PS4. Hopefully a Final Fantasy VII remake, new God of War or even Assassins Creed. Didn't care for any of the games announced so far. |
