I haven't seen a thread like this and it seemed like a good idea so here it goes...
My most Overated movies of the year go to Rise of the Planet of the Apes & Tree of Life. "Rise" wasn't bad it just wasn't all that good either and Tree of Life was just bad plain and simple. Let's keep in mind that we're all entitled to our own opinion... ![]() |

Glad I didn't get it.
For 2011, everyone I purchased turned out to be pretty good. I was lucky last year. The only time I went to the theater in 2011 was to see Hugo. That was a waste of $21.00. m Last edited by JimShaw; 01-04-2012 at 02:22 PM. |

Yeah I don't believe some people realize what overrated or even 'rated' means...Sucker Punch, Green Lantern, and The Hangover Part II were not highly thought of films in the first place: many of you are quite with the majority when you opine that these films are lackluster. That belongs on a worst films of the year thread.

[Show spoiler] To each his own of course, but I think they did a find adaption of the film. A little quick for my touch, but they wouldn't be the first one to make a fast flowing hero prologue (X-Men Origins Wolverine come to mind). |

My opinion, out of all the films I saw last year, comes to two possibilities.
The Darkest Hour and Immortals. The Darkest Hour I just thought was a bad movie with nothing really appealing to keep the viewer interesting, though I predicted it was going to be bad the first time I saw the trailer, but I had free passes to a screening the day before it came out. Immortals, however, I was very excited about. The first thing I have to say is, from the gecko, I never even put the film and 300 into the same category. I say this because most people seemed to judge the film by comparing it to the latter. But I've always had a thing for various mythologies, so I was excited to see a fantasy/action film dealing with Theseus. This movie had no good character development, no good plot, and other then [Show spoiler] , the action was very boring. Only characters who were interesting was Hyperion portrayed by Mickey Rourke and Luke Evans as Zeus. Big let down.

Same here, hands down The Hangover Part II for me. My disappointment of the same exact story line made any funny parts start to seem almost annoying in a way, if you know what i mean.

Thor. Not sure why the critics were so gentle on it, it was one of the most forgettable and formulaic movies I've seen in the last few years.
I liked Drive well enough, but was a bit puzzled by all the acclaim it got. Maybe I went into it with the wrong expectations, and need to see it again ![]() |

Super 8. J.J. Abrams lame attempt at a Cloverfield sequel. The more I think about the movie the more I dislike it.
Battle: LA - AWESOME teaser trailer...AWFUL film. Bad Teacher - Great concept, sadly not funny at all. Green Lantern - Worst Superhero film of the year. So full of potential, but all of it was sadly wasted. Last edited by bam777; 01-04-2012 at 06:58 AM. |
