I just got in my first Blu-ray burner for my PC, mainly for my bootleg concert video trading hobby (fan filmed shows and TV stuff, nothing illegal). I burned a Pearl Jam show to blu ray, and on my player the menu comes up fine, including a short intro clip before the menu appears, but when I select "play" it just resets the menu after a brief pause, and the concert will not play. The same thing happened before when I burned a small HD video to a DVD, with the files being in BD format. The disc plays fine on my PC though. Is this a compatibility issue with my player? The disc is in the correct BD structure, with the BDMV/STREAM/ directories, and .m2ts files. Mine is a fairly old Sony BDV-E300. I'm thinking I'll need to get another player for burned BDs.

AVCHD does not need a certificate folder. Last edited by crackinhedz; 01-16-2013 at 08:20 PM. |

The certificate folder is there too. How can I tell if it is the UDF 2.50 file system? I burned it with ImgBurn, and I'm pretty sure i set it for that file system before when i burned that small HD broadcast to a DVD with the same results.

EDIT: nevermind, I re-read, you used a DVD played on Bluray player, not played from DVD player...duh. Last edited by crackinhedz; 01-16-2013 at 10:13 PM. |

Yeah, I remember ImgBurn automatically setting the format when I did that DVD. It was a HD video in BD format, just small enough to fit a DVD.
Just tried the BD-R on my PS3 and it behaved the same way. I'll just have to try it on another player, then I'll know it's a Sony issue. |

You could also look at detail info of the disc from your PC drive. (might show you there) |

agree it,DVD uses different filesystem. The problem here was probably the m2ts file...dvd players wont read this format.thanks

Doesn't always need a certificate. In fact, 90% of the discs I burn DON'T have one. And they're not AVCHD. All play fine.
