What's better in a show Story or Enjoyment?

What do you guys prefer in a good TV Show?

Some shows are focused more on story and have great character development and over time you start to love the characters.

But other shows focus more on the enjoyment aspect which leaves you on the edge of your seat all the time.

Just an example but "LOST" This show was great, the story was what made it and the characters were superb, but this show had a few boring episodes and the endings to most of the episodes did not leave much suspense, apart from season finale's or interesting episodes.

On The other hand as an example you have a show like "24" which every episode delivers superb thrill, every episodes ending makes you want to watch the next and is more enjoyable to watch than a show like "LOST", but 24 does not have a story as such, although there is Season story's not a completely different thing every episode like "Hawaii 5-0"


What do you guys prefer in a show? There are some shows that may fit into both categories.
