I think that copyrights should be permanent and untouchable by others, unless and until the original owner or his\her descendants decide to sell. -sigh- .....yet another reason to despise attorneys, l suppose. |

Well that's a loss for Prince, Paris, and Blanket I guess!
I do think that they should NOT become public domain in that short of a time period. That's really bad. I wonder if they ever should. |

I believe it means that you can now use the song without having to pay a royalty, but NOT the original of the song as done by The Beatles. You can have someone sing it and not pay a royalty, but that's it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Whatcha' mean? Michael Jackson never sold his half of Sony/ATV Publishing company. He used to make 15 million U.S. dollars a year off of it. Towards the last decade of his life he was making between 45 and 75 million U.S. dollars a year. So "Love Me Do" was never part of Sony/ATV? There are some but not many Beatles songs that are not.
