Being a Star Trek fan one movie I really can't wait to see this year is Star Trek Into Darkness.
However I'm having to do my very best to stay away from all the trailers, pre-release info and hype etc for it. I know a trailer is important to market a film but it seems to me that the studio may have put all the footage in the numerous trailers so far!!! I was baffled as to why they put a 9 minute trailer out last year as I thought it would just give away too much and would, for me, probably ruin the movie when I do see it. I want suprise when I see a movie and that experience of seeing a film for the very first time can never be replaced, so why ruin for myself. I equate it to a great page turner novel when you can't wait to find out what happens next. Nowadays I always try to not get overhyped about a film; overhype has happened to me before. I remember getting really psyched before seeing Independence Day back in '96 and being disappointed as a result (I can't stand that film now). I'm deliberately not trying to find out what STID is about, who the characters are as I want to find out when I see the movie, as it will help me to enjoy it more, hopefully. Can anyone else relate to this or do you always try to find out as much as possible about a movie you are really looking forward to seeing? Do you think you would enjoy it more if you didn't know as much about the film beforehand? |
