Question Where the Marvel One-Shots Fit into the MCU?

Hey there,

I am planning on trying to watch all the Marvel films and shows in order to prepare myself for the beginning of Infinity War in May. I'm just wondering if any Marvel fans out there could help me with piecing together the Marvel One-Shots into this chronological list of the MCU I found. The One-Shots are as follows:
  • The Consultant
  • A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer
  • Item 47
  • Agent Carter
  • All Hail the King

This is the pretty accurate chronological list I found to try and insert them into:

Thanks Marvel fans! :P

A few small problems with that timeline if you're wanting to watch it all in chronological order.

The timeline here (under Live-Action Media Chronology) works a bit better and includes the one-shots.

First I would change the orders of the movies in this list to order of release...

Watch the Consultant right after Iron Man 2.

Then watch "Funny Thing..." before Thor.

Watch "Agent Carter" after the first Captain America and before starting her tv show.

Watch Item 47 after Avengers before starting Agents of Shield.

Watch All Hail the King right after Iron Man 3.

[Show spoiler]P.S. I wish they never stopped the one shots.

The only problem I see, for now, is that Iron Man 2 should be placed before Hulk.

They actually take place around the same time, since Nick Fury has footage from Culver University playing when he speaks with Tony about consulting for SHIELD. But apart from brief references and the return of William Hurt as Ross, it really seems Marvel wants to ignore that movie. Every other character from it has been relegated to the tie-in comics, instead of making another on-screen appearance.

Some of that timeline posted above gets pretty back and forth with some things... I am getting a bit confuddled here! Umm... is there any simple timeline to follow while watching things in as in sequence of event occurrence as possible?

The Agent Carter one shot is no longer canon apparently, it's been replaced by the two Carter series.

I assume season two of Jessica Jones will just tack on to the end of the list but before Infinity War, but what about the other few? Where do the following fit in, assuming we are using this timeline/sequence of being watched you posted?
  • Runaways (season 1) - November 21, 2017 (on Hulu)
  • Agents of SHIELD (season 5) - January 2018 (on ABC)
  • Black Panther - February 16, 2018
Does Black Panther go immediately after Civil War? And I assume SHIELD S5 gets spilt up as that show often does while being placed into the timeline...

Wait a minute. Black Panther should follow after Civil War, with Ragnarok right before Infinity War.

What about the first season of Runaways and season five of AOS?

I also don’t quite understand what this is on the list:

44. Agents of SHIELD: Slingshot (season 1, eps 1-6)

Why is it randomly telling you go back to watch episodes 1 - 6 from season one of AOS for it being this late in the timeline??

Slingshot was a 15-20 minute 6 part webisode series that was about Yo-Yo which takes place shortly before AoS Season 4.

Are you talking about the viral videos for Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and Civil War featuring Christine Everhart? I believe those can be found on YouTube.

Those should be watched after Age of Ultron and before Civil War.

Below is a link to there channel with every video in the series available to watch

Alright. So this is the timeline I've compiled so far... could somebody please try and piece in where each of those news spots from YouTube should get inserted into? Where Runaways fits into things? The news reports were mainly used to promote Ant-Man so a bulk of those would be placed before Ant-Man. The remaining others promoted Civil War; which means they are to be viewed before Civil War.

Also, if you're to watch EVERYTHING before Infinity War, you have a lot of marathoning to do. That's 18 movies and 15 TV series between now and May. Oh, don't forget Cloak and Dagger coming in the Spring.

Okay, thanks. I'll look into what each one pertains to and try to rank them accordingly.

Isn't Cloak & Dagger set to premiere in June? That's after Infinity War.

But yes. It is a heck of a lot to get through but... my body is ready! Haha!!

Ah, yes...it does premiere in June.

I hope you don't have work or school to go to. I'd suggest just sticking to the movies as everything else are just supplementary.

We're 69 days away from Infinity War. Best thing to do is take it day by day. Finish in 50 days.

Yep. Definitely work full-time. But there's always time in the evenings! I'll see how far I can get through the list...
