Default How much did you pay for your First BD player

I was cleaning some papers out and ran on my receipt for my first BD player. It was a PC unit (I always tried each new format in PC form first - to include HD-DVD and Blu-ray) and I paid $189.00 in 2007.

You want to know the good thing....I'm still using the same drive today!!!!

Chime in and lets see how prices have fallen, (I buy drives for other machines or builds for $36-49 bucks now).

£250 for a Samsung back in 2008, but it came with I Am Legend and Ocean's 13 so it wasn't all bad.

Didnt pay anything for my old Sony N460. It came as a bundle with my tv from BB. I did pay $250 for my S570 almost 2 years ago and it has been worth every penny.

My first Blu-ray player was a 60 GB PS3 in 2007 for $500, which also included Memento and a PS3 remote. My first standalone Blu-ray player was a Sony S350 in 2008 for $260.

Launch PS3 cost me $650 + tax + mandatory 2 game purchase here in Canada.

So... roughly about $850.

My first BD player was the first one commercially available, the Sony BDP-S1. It was $1000. Loading a disc was slower than molasses (e.g. it took about 10 minutes to load the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie). The player had a tendency to freeze while playing a disc, and then had to be rebooted, disc reinserted, and the process repeated. The BDP-S1 was an expensive, frustrating, not-ready-for-prime-time piece of hardware.

60gig PS3 during the first price reduction I believe, $499.99 in 2007. It came with a choice of 6 free blurays too, IIRC.

A little over $650 for the launch 60GB PS3, which I still own. It did die Christmas Eve last year, totally my fault. I tried to launch Home & she sacrificed herself for me. Got her fixed now she sounds like my launch 360 lol. I envy all that paid the same amount or less & got games & controllers.

Same here. It now resides in a box at the bottom of my closet.

In December of 2008 I paid $299 for my Panasonic BD-35. It is still in service in my son's bedroom, as my Panny BD-80 now resides in the home theater. Gotta say it has been worth every penny. It's almost more than I can bear to watch a dvd now.

Paid $399 for my 40 GB PS3 back in Feb 2008...the laser died so I fixed the console and then sold it.
...I now use a PS3 slim for strictly gaming and an Oppo BDP-83 for watching blurays.

$150 for the BD drive in my PC, another $90 for PowerDVD 8 Ultra which hardly ever worked, then another $100 for Total Media Theatre 5 which works flawlessly. Recently got a Panny BD75 standalone for $80. Live and learn.

My first player was the Panasonic BD30K. I still have this player in my bedroom and still works great. I think I paid around $370 for this player. I thought I price matched it at Best Buy cause Frys was having it on sale or something. I purchased it in March 2008.

If we're counting PS3s then the original launch 60GB was my first for £425. *Gulp*
