Default do most digital codes work after the expiration date?

For the first time I used the digital codes in my blu ray. I bought the 5 movie mission impossible blu ray collection on sale and used the digital codes on ITunes yesterday. Even though the expiration was Dec. 12th 2017 the codes worked for me. It seems that I am only able to use ITunes since I never set myself up for other digital services to redeem codes. My question is do most expired digital codes still work?

I've used a lot of codes after expiration date, and I think only one failed to work.

Yes most do. You should still be able to set up an account with VUDU or Movies Anywhere. You can link your Itunes account to Movies Anywhere.

Yes most do, however I found out the other week that when I tried to redeem Defiance Season 2, it had indeed expired. The only thing I could get out of it was a replacement code for something else by Universal. But it's frustrating because I now have a giant gap in my Defiance series (S1 and 3 but not 2).

I've had good luck in iTunes but none on UV. Some split codes even worked on iTunes but not UV.

Thanks for asking this question! I was looking at this collection but saw on the Blu-ray movie list that the codes were expired so wrote it off. After reading this I went and purchased the collection from BB and hoped for the best! All the codes worked! Both UV and iTunes! This was a great deal!

I had a code for the second Sherlock Holmes movie that I received when the movie came out - 2011 - that I just redeemed through vudu last month. Worked perfectly. Same thing with Dark Knight Rises.

I have almost always been able to redeem codes long past their expiration date. The only exceptions have been a movie with a Vudu-only code, and one that used the studio's own proprietary download service outside of the regular vendors.

You used to be able to check codes through https://www.myuv.com/, but apparently you no longer can. Previously, if you did not sign in, you could enter the code and check it without redeeming it.

Now you get this message:

"Please check the insert that came with your disc for instructions on how to redeem the code.

You may also be able to redeem the code at your favorite UltraViolet retailer’s website."

I am not sure if you can check at a "retailer's website" and NOT redeem the code (if you do not sign-in).

I sell most of my digital codes, and used to rely on that myuv.com method to verify them in advance. Since then, I have had to resort to the retailers' websites, and have yet to accidentally redeem a code. As long as you aren't signed in (and not having accounts in the first place is even safer!), they won't know what account to attach the redemption to, and the code remains valid.

YMMV - I'm just a guy on the internet whose past experiences should not be taken as indicative of your own, and cannot be held liable for inadvertent code redemptions.
