Shout + Jackie Chan = upscale.
Evidence: Track record. Police Story 1, Police Story 2, The Protector, Crime Story - all upscales.

Battle Creek Brawl a.k.a. The Big Brawl is a great film! Jackie Chan climbing down that structure in the beginning is crazy! I also loved the tea time session with Mako.

And that damn whistling song is stuck in my head.

Never seen either of these, despite being a huge fan Jackie chan. Based on that alone, this will be a day one buy, even if the movies are upscales.

Huge Jackie Chan fan. Will probably pick this up assuming the price is right.

Hopefully Shout can release some other Hong Kong films that FOX had the rights too, like Naked Weapon

As I said before in other threads...

Echo Bridge and Lionsgate's releases of Miramax's Asian library are sourced from true HD masters. Granted most of these are the international/US cuts and only have the English dub but they are true HD masters.

I don't know why Shout chooses to soil their brand by doing this sort of thing.

Becuz they can and I'll buy them.

The films themselves are mediocre but City Hunter has some funny moments. I'll consider Big Brawl as a bonus movie.

I love City Hunter, I have the Mega Star from Tai Seng and Fortune Star versions on DVD. I hope these BDs are not upscales but I wont lie, I buy 'em anyway too.

For money. Even if these are upscales, they can't look any worse than the DVDs.

I would have thought Shout being an enthusiast's label, but I guess they're just money grubbing bastards who realise that apparantly even enthusiasts like blu-ray.com users don't care for quality.

Sometimes, you get what you get, and you don't get upset. Shout is overall a pretty good label, and honestly, at least these will look better than the DVDs. I don't think we should condemn them for this, honestly.
