Germany Sleepwalker (2011) Blu-ray 3D [Region Locked / No English audio or subtitles]

Haven't found a thread on this movie.

Is this recommended?

When I do a search on "Sleepwalker 3D" on bluray.com it shows me 3 listings: one German, one Chinese, one Honkgong.

On DDDHouse they have the Hongkong version, but I can't make out what the cover says. Is the 3D Version included in there?

There is also a region locked German release, but unsure about the subs on that one.

Anyway, this also seems to be a native shot movie in 1.85:1.

That was my conclusion. If you understand German then the German disc is an option, but no English versions anywhere.

I’ll vouch for this. Thanks to HDM_Fan’s excellent guide I was able to ‘mux’ English subs onto the German release.

The 3d is native, strong and inventive with it. There’s a great intro with the sleepwalker narrating a children’s tale behind a ‘hole’ in the screen. Cartoon figures orbit around as she speaks and then push far out of the TV (to the point of ghosting).

There are other imaginative scenes including a dream sequence with miniature clouds floating beyond the bounds of the screen that evaporate in your living room and a fun (and completely gratuitous) car crash with a spark plug or something flying in slow mo right at you. The effect only really fails in a couple of shaky cam chases through forests and the streets of Hong Kong.

The film itself is passable. It’s not really horror- more a psychological crime drama but one of the better low budget Asian releases I’ve seen. It's a winner.

These subtitles are in sync with the German 3D Blu-ray release:
