Vudu offline on PS3

So Vudu lets you download movies to your hard drive for offline play. So why is it you can't access Vudu when offline!? Is there another way of accessing my downloaded copy of Skyfall? I need it to show the family!

The PS3 downloads save your bandwidth/speeds when you want to watch them, but it unfortunately requires an internet connection to verify your rights to the download like if you rented a movie, downloaded it, and then Vudu checks to see your rental hasn't expired. Not sure what it checks on movies you own (if anything).
