Default Thank you Blu-ray forum veterans

Just joined and wanted to say thank you for your contributions to this Forum.
I have recently become the co-owner (actually purchased for my kids for Christmas) of an 80G PS3. Thanks to some good timing with the Wal-Mart purchase and all of you, we already own 17 Blu Rays with 6 more on order for a grand total cost of $86.72. Thanks to you, we will have a very Merry Christmas indeed.

I have learned much in my browsing of this site and I joined so that I may properly thank you and to show my support for Blu!

MAKE SURE TO SIGN UP FOR THE PLAYSTATION NETWORK!!! It offers the free gameplay feature and plenty of free material (demos/trailers/etc) from the Playstation Store.

FOLDING @ HOME is a pretty cool concept as well... help save humanity!

with a name like ink addict i'm interested to see what pics you would have in the ''lets put some faces to the names'' thread.

the sales recently are freaking sweet. they're keeping my wife on my ass a little. I have to buy her a REALLY nice xmas gift now after all the ones i've bought myself.

We won't open the box and go through any of the instructions until after Christmas so I am not familiar with the Playstation Network...or "Folding @ Home" What is folding at home??

I'm feelin' you there buckshot...thankfully though my wife loves movies almost as much as me so all I have to do is pick her up a couple of titles from the BOGO's and I am all set...of course she is getting the "free" one but shhhhhhh...she will never know!

Well that and a 24 pack of the Dr.!

By the way, welcome to the world that we call Blu, Husker!

Folding @ Home uses "Distributed Computing", where multiple computers are used in a "network" to split duties for very complex calculations. Protein Folding, or how protein molecules assemble themselves, is VERY complex, requires HUGE computing power to pull off....thankfully, they have all these nice PS3 owners allowing their consoles to be used for the calculations (not while you're using it, IIRC) - last I saw their "PS3 network" was one of their top-performing groups in this project(?), speaks to the PS3's computing power.

Thanks Matt X. That is impressive. Gaming systems have certainly come a long way since my Atari and Nintendo experiences. Pitfall will never be the same.

I will certainly look into participating in Folding @ Home.
