"PlayStation 4 gamers looking at Xbox One Elite controllers with envy may not have much longer to wait for a professional PS4 controller of their own. Sony announced today that Razer and Nacon will be each be releasing a pro gaming-focused controller for the PlayStation 4 later this year. (And unlike the knockoff PS4 Elite controller from a few weeks back, these are actually licensed by Sony.) The Razer Raiju looks similar to the DualShock 4, with two symmetrically placed thumbsticks flanked by the face buttons and D-pad. It adds a row of dedicated audio controls for managing voice chat, with two extra triggers and bumpers on the back of the controller, and two hot swappable configuration profiles. The Nacon Revolution, on the other hand, more closely resembles Microsoft’s Xbox One controller in terms of layout by moving the left thumbstick to the top half of the device. The Revolution has a companion PC application which will let you create up to four custom button maps, along with four additional buttons on the back of the controller for extra functionality. No pricing or concrete release date information has been announced yet for either model, but Sony says to expect both controllers sometime this holiday season. http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreak...on-razer-raiju The second controller with the asymmetrical sticks like the Xbone looks interesting. |

I have no need for a Pro Gaming controller that cost 2-3 times what a normal controller cost. I would like to have a generic controller with a turbo button like in the good old days. It would be nice to have for some games where I'm farming something with repetitive button smashing.

High priced controllers aside, it's good to hear there are more options than only Sony's flawed PS4 controller. I don't mind a wired controller, since it removes the concern of having to recharge or replace the internal battery. The whole problem with the PS4 is that the controllers require a Track Pad option/button of some kind, otherwise games won't have all of the features.
But yeah, the price has to be right too. $60 or less sounds reasonable for possibly other new controllers from these, or other companies. |

I love the Razer one. I hate thumbsticks together like Playstation has always done, but i need to put up with it. As long as the Razer one has decent quality i can get something more comfortable to me. Also i LOVE wired controllers any day every day.

I know Sony was being innovative with the DS4 controller's track pad which is largely underused, but I wish it was just a normal controller without that feature so we'd have a lot more 3rd party controller options and prices, along with some that are retailed for 19.99$ brand new, though with less expensive parts. Some of the cheaper controllers could work just as well and durably as the PS4 controller, considering the problems of its design and durability.

Yeah, that touchpad, mostly used as a pause button or map button. Most developers aren't interested in it since they're making games for the XB1 too, and don't want to program in a new function just for the PS4 controller.
The lightbar, aside from the usefulness for the PSVR, seems useless otherwise. I never look at it since I'm looking at the screen, not the controller when playing a game. Oh well. There should've been a way to shut it off to conserve battery power. |

Sony maybe doing good this gen but they are lazy when it comes to making accessories for their own console and at least M$ is making their own and having 3rd party accessories. But I'm not going to knock these Elite controllers until I get one and try it out.

Thanks for the picture Talal. Only question I had about that nice looking controller is without the touchpad, will it work with games that require it? Is there a button that takes its place? By the way, that would be awesome for fighting games and reminds me of the classic Sega Genesis 6 button controller. I have much difficulty using the shoulder buttons on a regular PS3 controller in Street Fighter II on PS3 and Mortal Kombat, etc, and for the PS4 controller too.
