Default L.A. Wars is the GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!

It's a damn shame that this was a VSA release, never to be seen on disc ever again. Within the first three minutes, I was prepared to proclaim this movie as an epic for the ages. It cured cancer. It ended world hunger and brought about peace in our time. It is the alpha and omega of action movies.

Seriously. Check this out:

If at all possible, find this movie. Make sweet, sweet love to this movie. Bear this movie's children. LA Wars is love. LA Wars is life.

That is exactly the state I was in when I watched. It's the PERFECT movie for that sort of thing. LA Wars, pizza, some friends, and some Jazz Cigarettes makes for a lovely night in.

The disc didn't sell out yet. It'll still be available when the Vinegar Syndrome site goes back live.

It does look like a lot of fun. These are the kind of movies you pretty much have to watch alone or with carefully chosen company. My spouse would probably clamor to turn it off.

Agree with the OP's assessment...Vince Murdocco is an unstoppable dealer of death

Checked it out on Amazon Prime. Glad I didn’t blind buy it. It didn’t quite reach far enough into so bad it’s good territory for me (although it came close with that beach walk scene). Not really ridiculous or cheesy or enough to be entertainingly bad. It was just kind of dull. Not sure what all the praise is about.

Agree 100%.

It's got a lot of action and I love all the crappy slo-mo shootings, but it kind of runs out of steam and ends up being only ok, and nowhere near as good as many people in the Vinegar Syndrome Facebook groups are saying.

I love shitty 90s direct to video action movies, and I love "bad" movies, but this one was honestly kind of disappointing based on the hype.

So unless you're trashed, don't bother watching this movie. Is this what you guys are saying? (I don't drink).

Mary Zilba! She released a few singles here in Canada, I remember this one used to get played on MuchMusic sometimes.

I watched it earlier tonite for the first time ever. The transfer was heavy with film grain and I loved it.

I loved how the movie just plugs along, I can see how some info the characters have in other films would be stretched out but this movie doesn’t care they tackle it fast.

Example spoiler: when
[Show spoiler]the daughter deals with the attempted rape from her father’s most trusted right hand man, you’d think the info would be hidden but the dad busts right in and handled the situation
, end of that plot point!

I've not seen L.A Wars...how does it stack up against some of the best mid 90's action films from PM Entertainment like Last Man Standing, The Sweeper, Rage & Recoil?

I'm surprised this movie wasn't produced by PM Entertainment. It looks exactly like something they would have released straight to video in the early to mid 90's. Vince Murdocco was basically a PM Entertainment regular during that era as well. I haven't seen this film yet but do plan to pick it up. I'm a big fan of 90's action flicks like this starring random former kickboxing champions.

Nah, it's worth checking out if you like crappy 90's action movies with tons of cliches, its just that it's not as good as people like the OP would have you believe.

DTV action movies like Parole Violators, Samurai Cop, and Stick Fighter are much better "bad" movies. LA Wars has all the action, but lacks that sense of charm/humor that makes those other ones superior imo

I would kill for VS to get ahold of Parole Violators. Now THAT one is everything people are claiming L.A. Wars to be.

It's definitely got a much smaller budget than those films (no major action set pieces, and I think only one car explosion) and all the action sequences basically take place in bars, clubs or warehouses. It doesn't have a lot of unintentional humor, over the top scenarios or witty one liners either.

LA Wars, on the surface, has all the elements (especially from watching the trailer) to be a truly great "bad" movie, but is doesn't quite come together for me. I will watch it again sometime, but upon the first viewing I wasn't left with the feeling that I had witnessed some forgotten trash movie classic.

Judging by some of the stuff that I've seen you mention in the MVD thread, you should check this out. It's Murdocco's show (he's not the usual secondary character). It's on par with some of Don Wilson's output. It's more similar to something like Black Belt than something like Bloodfist.
