First of all, I am the proud new owner of a Panasonic 65VT and a Denon X4000. It's been a blast messing around with settings and such for me, but last night I recognized something new. As I was peering through the Denon's manual, I noticed something called ARC. I'm aware that most of you probably know what this is, but it was something I hadn't come across yet. After some short research, I recognized what it was(I think).
It appears these connection's enable sound to travel back from your TV to your AVR, if so equipped, via one HDMI cable. This gives you the ability to listen to APPS, such as Pandora, and listen to it through your main speakers instead of the TV. After messing with it a bit, I have a few issues or questions that some of you may be able to help with. 1. I still cannot get sound from my TV apps to play through the Denon. Is this not what ARC is intended for? 2. It appears my TV has no setting to "turn off" the TV's speakers and send sound to the AVR. I wonder if this just is supposed to happen via plug & play? Or is there some other setting I'm unaware of? 3. It also appears the Denon has no specific setting's for ARC? Thus I'm finding nothing to "turn on" there either. 4. I have the HDMI hooked up to the Denon's ARC HDMI slot and the other end to the TV's ARC HDMI slot. This is correct, no? I understand I can get the sound by adding more cables, I was just hoping one cable would do it. Any help is much appreciated! |
