Yes, it's really disappointing that this release doesn't include english subtitles.

I found only this e-mail - laurence.lascary@canal-plus.com (source).

I see this often in some European Blurays from Germany and France.
Apparently they don't want any "foreigner" to enjoy their films too.

This limited edition set looks amazing!

I've always really wanted to see this film. I've heard that dialogue is pretty limited and it is primary told visually. While I'm sure you won't get the full experience without understanding the dialogue, you should still be able to get a very good one.

The set is too nice to pass up. I still don't have a region free player (I've recieved confirmation that this is region B locked), but I really can't pass up on this beautiful set. I guess I'll be making an order on Amazon France pretty soon.

While the limited set is nice, the PQ is just awfully disappointing because this BD release uses the same 2003 restoration than the former DVD releases. However, this restoration is not at all up to date anymore, making it like a DVD upscale.

It's dirty, blurry, and not very detailled.

Well, that's unfortunate to hear.... It definitely has the potential to look beautiful on BD.

Well, I'm guessing it's not going to get another BD release anytime soon, and since I don't own the film at all, I'll still be going for this set.

I ordered the regular 2-Disc edition for half the price. It comes with the same extras, except for the cd and cards and stuff. I'm interested mainly in the film, which I saw many times as a kid, and in the feature-lenght documentary by Jacques Demy, which I never saw.

I'm aware of that edition, but I'm just really enamoured by the limited edition set. Thanks for the heads up though.
