Yeah, Japanese currency is strong. The situation has been a big suckfest for Japanese exporters for quite some time
(and bad for people who want to import Japanese goods).

It's pretty much 1 Yen = 0.01 GBP. So it would be about £50 for this steel. So it's also expensive for the people who live in Japan.

It's average pricing for limited edition packaging in Japan.

visit http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%96%E3...node=403507011
Look at the top sellers.

Or look up the Studio Ghibli digipack releases there (single disc; Amazing Spider-man steelbook has two discs by comparison):
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%81%A8%E3...dp/B007UMRRUM/

Pretty normal

In Japan, they were trying hard to bring down the value of Yen for years: http://www.valuewalk.com/2013/02/bre...dollar-yearly/. It's dropped, but Japanese exporters want it to drop further.

Oh yeah, I agree: it is very shocking (especially for people like me who like Japanese imports). Sucks
