Default Blade Runner UK release

So, it's just come to my attention that Warner Bros. have absolutely no intention of releasing the 5 disc special edition on Blu-Ray (or HD-DVD)

Even though they are releasing the 5 disc edition on standard DVD

Whats that all about???

This is my favourite film of all time, I feel I have been waiting a lifetime for this special edition

I am now totally outraged, as i have no intention of buying any more standard DVD's... I didn't spend a fortune getting "next gen'd up" to sit and watch low quality DVD's

Surely the pre sales on Amazon USA shows that people buying this want the full "bells & whistles" version of this release, why do Warner Bros. think the situation would be any different in the UK.... after all, this is a British director we are talking about here... and his film that many consider to be his best.

I think we need to get together a show of force, and make Warners UK realise that we are not a less important market than the USA

Doesn't the Blu Ray have everything that the 5 disc DVD has just on the 1 disc just because BD's have a higher storage capacity?...

You can just order it from the States. As it's Warner it should be region free as all their Blu-Ray releases are as far as I know. I received Troy : The Director's Cut (Warner) earlier this week and it works fine on my PS3.

Really... Where would you recommend i buy it from mate?

I'd really like that full briefcase edition if possible - Could i order it from Amazon USA or would you recommend somehwre else???

Although if they ARE region free, this just seems like even more madness that Warner ain't bringing it to the UK officially.

Has it been confirmed that the multi-disc releases won't be brought across the pond? There's a placeholder page for the briefcase set on BD at Amazon.co.uk (which means nothing, I know). We're still 2 months out from the release, and I've noticed a LOT of titles lately haven't been made available for pre-order until about a month out...

One way or the other I hope you can get your hands on the release you want. I can't stand watching the crappy DVD anymore; this is probably my single most-anticipated title of the fall.

I've only used amazon.com for my overseas purchases and have had no problems so I can recommend them. I think they have the 5-discer for about $28, add postage to that and it should still come in under £18. The briefcase version is more expensive (can't remember how much). Be warned though, if the total value is over £18 then you get hit with customs charges. I bought Troy and Underworld together which came to around £26 with shipping. Then the post office asked for £12.62 customs charges on top of that! £8 handing fee?!?! Plus £4.62 VAT. Keep it under £18 and you should be fine. Others have recommended axelmusic.com but I haven't used them so far.

Default Blade Runner - UK Release

Okay, I know this movie has been discussed to death ... but I can't find any recent threads to add my small piece of news to so I'm creating a new one.

My source at Warners in the UK has just confirmed that they will indeed be releasing both the 2-disc and 5-disc versions of "The Final Cut" on BD. I'm not sure why the 5-disc set is not being listed at Play.com or Amazon.co.uk.

Meh, it'll be overpriced anyway. You can import the 5-disc set for cheaper than what they're selling the 2-disc set for.

Apologies if this has been answered before, do you know if there are plans to release the ‘Five Disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition’ ( with brief case) in the UK anytime soon? If not I probably will go ahead and order from Amazon.com
