I need some words of encouragement

Earlier this week my Mom began to have severe neck and upper back pain. She went through a lot of medical tests, and it became known that she has a bulging disc that is pinching the nerves along her spinal cord. Each day this week she became worse and worse. At this point she can't walk, my Dad has to carry her wherever she goes. She is scheduled for surgery Wednesday morning, but the insurance company is fighting it. They are recommending physical therapy instead even though her surgeon and hospital as well as the hospital's lawyers are trying to get them to reverse their decision. If the hospital doesn't get approval from the insurance company by Tuesday afternoon, they are postponing the surgery indefinitely even though the surgeon says every day matters. This week has literally been the worst week of my life. I am beyond frustrated and feel as though I am hitting rock bottom.

I'll include your mom in my prayers. Stay strong and try not to show your mom how this is affecting you; she needs all the support right now and showing her that you're emotionally strong is going to make it better for her. Also, I'd recommend going to a public library and check if they have free lawyer consultation there. Do a lot of research so that you can show the insurance company that you know your mom's rights. There might even be books you can borrow about this so motivate yourself to read and educate yourself as to what rights your mom has regarding her condition. Lastly, just pray for her and be on her side. You're a caring son and I'm sure she appreciates that!

I just want to let you know that I know what you're feeling. My dog is sick again and I was just in the hospital this afternoon. I am unemployed right now and have no income. It'll cost $2000-$4000 just for a rhinoscopy. It's killing me having to go home unable to afford my dog's treatment because I'm still in so much debt since he had cancer last year. All I can do now is to be there for my dog even though it's killing me inside.

Anyway, take care of your mom and I'm sure she'll have a successful surgery.

Be strong for your mum,I lost mine to cancer over two years ago and it was tough from she was diagnosed,I sure hope everything turn's out ok for you and your family.

Take it easy, don't let yourself get too bum out by it...its hard when your love one's are sick but unfortunately we can't do anything, but pray that things will work itself out..I am sure your Mom will be OK and the surgery will go ahead has plan.

I hope things work out for your mom. It sounds horrible and I feel for everyone that has to go threw any pain as a result of insurance company neglect.

I know exactly what your going threw I think everyone experiences these frustrations unfortunately so your not alone. My ex wife was in a major car accident years ago and seriously injured. when our insurance company decided it was tired of paying for treatment it said go see our doctor or your cutoff 100% so she did and he said it was all in her mind. I know for a fact even now that were not together etc. that she was suffering daily. People like this where the bottom dollar means more will have karma back on them 10 fold.

Right now My girlfriends mom is in her 3 month of pneumonia, being out of the hospital for 2 months because she got to the point where they said she was at a certain % recovered so she no longer qualified for hospital subsidy and had to start paying if she wanted to remain (she's on old age pension fixed income). Now she can barely walk to the kitchen without being completely out of breath and run down. I just try to be a support as much as I can unfortunately there isn't much a person can do, her mom lives 3 hrs away and her husband is a do nothing, no help person and refuses to downsize despite being over 80. The whole situation from a outsiders view is ridiculous.

My mother has multiple sclerosis and the symptoms become slightly worse year after year. It's heartbreaking to see these things happen to our parents as the years go by, but sometimes all that we can do within our circle of control is to be there for them.

My Mom was taken from us suddenly, so I can only imagine the pain you and your Family are going through. Like Nef said, be strong for your Family. I'm sure your Mom would appreciate that. Save your inevitable weak times for when you are alone or with your spouse.

same here but it was my father. one day he just did not return from work. died on his way to home ... i was 14.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Always keep your family in prayers, it helps.

I lost my mom when I was 15 yrs.old and my dad at 8 yrs old, and our baby too. So I do know what tragedy is first hand. But GOD JESUS has always got me through everything the world, the devil and the flesh has thrown at me.

Always show your parents your love for them because you do not know what tomorrow will bring. Love covers a mulititude of sins!

The wife and I are thinking about you - hopefully the insurance company will come to its senses sooner rather than later. I had a buldging disc back in 04 which caused servere sciatica pain (could not sit, lay down, walk, etc without incredible pain) so on some level I understand what she is going through.

Just an update, today she started having tingling sensations in her arms and hands. Her surgeon approved an emergency procedure that will happen tonight. Since it's deemed an emergency by her surgeon, the insurance company can't refuse it. I hope everything goes well tonight, I am very nervous.

Thank you for the prayers everyone. By all accounts the surgery went well last night, it's just a waiting game now. The doctor said hopefully we avoided going off the cliff (paralysis from the neck down), but we just don't know. Every spinal cord injury reacts different unfortunately. It's in Gods hand now.
