Went to turn on my PS3 today....it beeped three times - Blu-ray Forum

"beep......beep beep beep" and the red light just kept blinking red until I turned it off on the back. After this, it booted fine and I played a game for about 2 hours.

Coincidentally, my friend's PS3 had the same problem this morning and his is working fine now also....Should we worry?

Mine beeps 3 times if I try to turn it on using the eject button when there's no disc in I think... But nothing like that.

Yeah....Mine does that too....Maybe the OS couldn't start or something?

usually the "3 beeps" means the hard drive enconutered a problem, happens often if you want to turn off the console but the HDD was working so it informs that something went wrong

Only time I get three beeps (slim) is if I try to eject and no disc is inside or the system was shut down with the hard drive still working.. Or system gets a little crazy and reboots because of a game error.

When I had my first fat PS3 that happened to me once before. It wasn't good. My PS3 eventually died not too long after that. Got the dreaded YLOD.

Same here. Mine died about 3 days after first doing that same exact thing

I think it happened to me after I shut the system down incorrectly (like when the HDD was being used or something) but it worked fine after. I wouldn't really worry about it unless it keeps happening.

I've had to shut mine off improperly at least 40 times because Black Ops 2 is always freezing.
