Why post this? We already know this FUD... it's old FUD and has been around.
The funny thing is they say HD-DVD has better audio and yet the Mbps is higher on the BD... it seems to be a matter of opinion. |

they screwed up way more than that. buena vista is on both, studio canal supports blu-ray. they left sun microsystems, the base of all our interactivity off the list. they left denon off the list, and theres a lot more if you look close, they also left ventruer off for hd dvd.

I like how they fail to mention that an HD DVD disc cannot use the Mpeg 4 codec, special features interactivity, and audio codecs on one disc. But that studio support is a little jacked up.
But this is nothing that we didn't know HD DVD fans just don't know the facts. |

Besides Studio support (biggest load of crap ive seen in a while) the thing I find the next most offensive is audio. First I dont think theres a SINGLE HDDVD (might be wrong) with DTS-MA. And on top of that I doubt very much we would ever see an HDDVD with 18mbps DTS-MA.
Second, the % of HDDVDs with either PCM or TrueHD is much much lower than that of bluray. |

They also left out the fact that the Dud player you get at 230 is not comparable to blu one you get . They are quick to point out that all the Audio Codecs are required on Dud but leave out the fact that the Blu ray is required to play 1080P vs the dud which is typically at 1080i.
Studio support being neutral.... hmmm Not quite. |

The Studio support clearly is on Blu's side. Next, Manufacturer Support: here first of all we need to take Thomson/RCA off the list for a couple of reasons - 1) RCA discontinued their only HD-DVD player (repackaged original Toshiba player) about a year ago and never mentioned they were going to release another model; 2) Thomson recently got rid of its electronics brand RCA (I believe they sold it to Audiovox), so Thomson is no longer in consumer electronics business altogether. There are more manufacturers supporting Blu: just go to the BDA web site and check the list there. IT Support: to begin with, i am not even sure why this section was called IT Support. Perhaps because they listed computer hardware manufacturers??? But whatever their thinking was, Stating "Advantage: Neutral" was just once again wrong. Advantage is overwhelmingly on Blu's side as well. Btw, you can add Toshiba on the Blu's side as well, after all Toshiba has been closely involved on developing the PS3 cell chip, and now they formed a joint venture with Sony to further their support! ![]() What they are also missing is a section called "Consumer Electronics Industry support". And I guess I know why they missed that section - read below: HD-DVD - none to speak of! Blu-ray - supported by a number of CE manufacturers, e.g. Panasonic announced Blu-ray equipped car system, Hitachi released Blu-ray equipped HD camcorder, and the list will be only growing from there. The key point is that Blu-ray is not just for movies, but it is a platform that can be used for many different applications. |

I was told "FUD" stands for "fear, uncertainty, doubt". I'm looking for how that applies to the posted article.

Well the original article is simply constructed of lies; like most HDM fights it was probably written by someone fearful, uncertain and doubtful that this beloved HD DUD format would win.
