Greetings all,
I'm looking for some guidance. I recently purchased a new receiver (Onkyo TX-SR313). I've got a Panasonic DMP-BDT210 blu-ray player. Running an HDMI cable (Mediabridge high speed) from the blu-ray player to the receiver, and another HDMI cable from the receiver to the plasma (Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT30), yields a small amount of snow/sparkle in an otherwise nice image. Doing some searching through the various forums here, I came to the conclusion that the HDMI cables were the main culprit. I purchased new HDMI cables twice, and twice I got the same results (with varying degrees of intensity - sometimes instead of snow/sparkle I'd get occassional flashes of white on the bottom half of the screen). This strengthens my suspicion that the HDMI cables are to blame, but how many do I need to go through before I find something that'll work? I tried turning on each component in a different order (blu-ray first, then receiver, then plasma, etc), as this was also suggested here. Still the snow/sparkle appeared. Finally I ended up running an HDMI cable from the blu-ray player to the plasma for picture, and an optical cable from the blu-ray player to the receiver for sound. Of course, now I'm not getting the lossless audio options I'd like to have. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Is it possible that the various components are simply not compatible, and that's what's causing the issue? Can it be anything other than the HDMI cables, or should I take the chance and spring for some higher-end HDMI cables? Thanks very much for any suggestions!! EvilAshLives |
