Default Ir remote vs rf remote

I'm looking into getting a harmony remote I see that there are rf remotes and ir remotes what are the differences

IR needs line of sight. RF does not. So, if your equipment is locked away, RF would be the way to go. Otherwise, IR is fine.

IR = "Infra-Red" light. If a flashlight goes through it, IR will.

RF = "Radio Frequency". Radio waves go through just about everything except lead and Faraday cages...
