Default Disney's vault: should I buy Lion King?

I'm not entirely sure how the Disney's vault works and how long a film stays inside. Lion King is definitely a film I'd like to own, but I don't really want to pay the price that it is at now. Should I wait or buy it now?

The price on Amazon right now isn't bad at all. You can still get the BD/DVD pack for 20 bucks. Definitely buy it now. It will only go up in price and won't be back for several years.

It used to be that movies spent ~7 years in the vault. I'm sure that's not an exact science and it's been more random than that, but when they pull something out of circulation, it's usually gone for a while.

Especially with the future of physical media being an open question, I wouldn't hesitate, especially if you can find it for ~$20. That's about what it was when it first came out. It'll only go higher in the coming years.

Or wait till its OOP and in the vault and pay around $45 on EBay when you decide that you REALLY need to own it.
It's worth the price, I've yet to see Disney Animated films drop too much, even used DVD's still fetch a premium.

I think Bambi has been 'in the vault' for almost a year now and amazon still hasn't sold out yet. I guess they bought a huge load in anticipation of it going away! So it's possible The Lion King could be available for a while to come...

Yeah, The Lion King is only $20 definitely a good price to get it at. It will only go up once it is back in the vault.

If you're also interested in 8 other Disney movies, you can get The Lion King for under $10 from DMC

$20? Buy it. It'll only get more expensive once it's in the vault. And $20 is more than reasonable to pay for this BD.

I would buy it. I got Beauty and the Beast for $19.55 before it went into the "vault" and went up in price to $55.99. Get it while its cheap.

Buy it now at $19.99 or go to the Deals forum and get a bunch of movies through Disney that way for dirt cheap. Either way, it's going back in the vault soon. DON'T DELAY! (I missed Beauty and the Beast... ).

Thank you all for the helpful information!

I did DMC awhile back and didn't include Lion King in my orders.

However, I did just place an order for it on Amazon! No regrets after seeing this thread!

Good call, Stridulent. At this price, it's definitely worth it, considering it's one of Disney's finest. A few months (or years) from now, when you see it going for $70 on ebay, you'll be glad you picked it up now
