Default Any LG owners out there?

I've been wanting to upgrade my TV for a while now and have been looking at Samsung and Sony, which are both obviously great. but I came across a LG 47" 1080p LCD, and after looking at reviews at Bestbuy and other online retailers sites' it appears to be a great TV, some people also recommend "Calibration", is it worth getting a new LCD TV Calibrated and is LG as good as people are saying in these reviews?

Thanks.

Professionally calibrating any new television nowadays is highly recommended. Just think about it, you're paying an exorbitant amount of money for some fairly new technology, so you might as well get the best possible picture quality on it.

By the way, most people will tell you to buy a Sony or Samsung LCDs, rightfully so because they're good quality brand names, but in my opinion LG's have great pictures as well at a considerable discount. Oh, and don't discount Philips LCDs either. That's what I bought for my parents a few months ago and I gotta tell you, both SDTV and HDTV looks very good (especially HDTV of course) and Blu-rays look out of this world on the 1080p Philips LCD TV. And it's also a lot less money than either Sony or Samsung.

Food for thought...

LG is a fine TV. I own a 42LB1DRA: 42" LCD 720p w/ built in DVR.
I also happen to sell TV's: Sony, Sharp, LG, Toshiba (junk), Pana, JVC (junk). The Sony/Samsung WILL get you a sharper pic than the LG. Hands down! Color is almost even between LG and Sony. The new LGs have great contrast and now, very good viewing angle. If you dont want/cant spend Sony price, I would buy an LG any day of the week. If you are looking at the 47LB5D, you will get a great set.
