Default The Europa Report slip is amazing, and on sale now at BB

My local BB had a couple left as of yesterday. it's on sale for $11.99. one of the best/appropriate uses of embossing on any slip i've seen. FWIW there were two shelf locations: the main one with several copies, none of which had slips, and then i beleive it was either a sci-fi or a horror on sale display with a couple slip copies.

I agree that it's a beautiful slip. Unfortunately, the movie is fair at best.

I'm just not a fan of the found footage stuff. These type of films have also been done to death.

It's different from the typical found footage films, IMO. Not like someone found a camcorder and then plays it back and that's the whole movie, Blair Witch-style. It's nicely woven together
[Show spoiler]with PR commentary and plays out like a news story/cover our company's ass propaganda story.

I thought it was an excellent sci-fi film. Probably a little slow for some people, but there was a lot of suspense and some great character development. I'd personally love to see more sci-fi movies like this one. They probably don't do very well though, unfortunately

P.S. I agree - the slip is amazing

I really liked The Last Days on Mars (from Magnet also) and there were some comparisons to Europa Report. When I saw the preview though and saw it was a "found footage" film, it kinda killed my excitement a bit.

I guess if the price continues to drop, I might bite anyway.

I don't typically use the phrase "slow burn" when describing a film - I think it's overused and oftentimes is synonymous with "boring." But in this case, I'd say "slow burn" is exactly how I'd describe it. Mounting tension.

I hope I'm not overselling it. I've just seen a lot of bashing towards it, and thought it deserved to be defended a little bit.

I liked both TLDoM and ER! Different types of movies but both gave me the good SF feeling!
To be honest, I didn't even reflect on ER being a Found Footage film...

I agree with this. It was one of the better sci-fi movies I'd seen recently. I also thought some scenes were pretty creepy, especially
[Show spoiler]when Petrovna falls through the ice and the ending with the creature coming toward the camera.

Thanks, gents...I think that just pushed me over the edge and will probably stop by BBY to pick this up.

I had never heard of the movie when I noticed the slip at BBY. Very nice eye catching cover.

Glad to see some others giving this film some well-deserved love

I think you'll enjoy it. It's unfortunate they don't do more sci-fi flicks like this. I'm sure it had a small budget, no huge A-list actors, not just a special effects extravaganza.

It stopped me in my tracks yesterday while i was cruising the movie section at BB. Very nice looking. May go back for it, as they had alot of them. It quite reasonably priced as well for $11.99. Never heard of it though, and i want to research the movie a little.
