I like it.
If it has the longer versions on it I'll probably end up buying this.

Are the transfers comparable to the higher-quality Japanese releases?

Unless they remastered the first two, then no. They don't even have Master Audio, as per the specs on the cover. Hi Res only. I was quite glad to sell them, when I got the Japanese set.

I just read that the transfers were the same between the French and Japanese editions. Are you sure it isn't DTS-HD-MA on these? That's what the o-card says. I would buy it provided there is an upgrade in PQ and decent HD audio. The U.S. releases were poor quality.

I did some more reading on it. Sounds like the first one has DTS-HD HR as you stated but the second is full MA. But the MA tracks on the US editions weren't the greatest of the bunch anyway, so getting vastly improved PQ over a slight downgrade is AQ might be acceptable. Especially considering the huge price discrepancy between this FR steelbook and the JP editions.

Mine arrived today. Has a little paint off the edge on one of the lower corners, but aside from that it looks great.

If thats true how have the errors on the artwork been allowed to persist through so many releases? Are companies really that inept?

Do you have any specifications for us or are they somewhere to be found?

No They are on the image posted above.
More like are 1 and 2 uncut?
Are there bonus features?
Are housed on 25gb discs or 50gb discs.

I think they are barebone releases.

Thank you
I own Part 1 and 2 on DVD (french releases) and I think it's time to upgrade.
