Default FXX (New channel spinoff from FX)

Fox made it's rumored FX split official today:

Quote:
At its upfront presentation, FX brass confirmed the conversion of Fox Soccer into a third FX-branded entertainment network, FXX, available in 74 homes, and an expansion of FXM (movie channel). It will launch Sept. 2. The expansion across the three FX networks will be supported by a big increase in original programming. FX president John Landgraf projected that FX would double its original offerings to 25 original series within the next few years to achieve parity with ABC, NBC and CBS.

The three channels will target different demographics. FX will continue to cater to adults 18-49, FXX will target adults 18-34 and FXM will go after adults 25-54. “They will share DNA and similar sensibilities for viewers interested in smart, cutting edge programming.” FX will ramp up its drama portfolio from 3 to 7 dramas and 4-6 comedies. FXX, which will be more comedy focused, will launch with 4 original comedies, with the number rising to 6. Gradually, FXX will add drama and late-night programming. FXM’s original programming will be built around limited event series, part of FX-Fox’s joint initiative in the genre.
FXX will feature original shows like It's Always Sunny (already renewed for 2013, renewed today for a season in 2014), The League (already renewed for 2013, now renewed for 2014), Legit (renewed today), and reruns of How I Met Your Mother, Parks & Rec, Sports Night, Arrested Development, Freaks & Geeks and Rescue Me. In addition Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell will expand to 5 nights a week.

So they're moving It's Always Sunny to a channel nobody gets?

This is the dumbest thing ever.

FXX is only available in 74 homes? That must be a typo.
FX will ramp up its comedies to 4-6, but FXX will be more comedy-focused (with 4 comedies), although they'll have the same amount of comedy shows? Also, this comedy-focused spinoff will also add dramas???

If they went full prime-time, from 8-10/11 5 days a week (like the networks they want to be like), they would not have a problem fitting all these shows onto FX.

.
Yeah, it should have said 74 million homes. If you have Fox Soccer now then you'll have FXX when it launches, and Fox will surely be working hard to get it on more cable operators before it launches.

The Fox umbrella is getting crazy. I think they're losing Fuel TV and Speed for Fox Sports 1 & 2 or something? Now there will be FX and FXX?

Yea, none of that sounds complicated or anything.

Yes, Speed is definitely becoming Fox Sports 1, with the switch projected to happen August 17. There hasn't been an official announcement on Fuel TV, but there is a good chance it becomes Fox Sports 2 around the same time as the Speed switch.
