Moderator note: I, Frankenstein was released on 3D Blu-ray in several countries but please note that the UK Blu-ray edition was badly manufactured and discs are now failing, so that is the one to avoid. No issues have been reported with any other edition but this is a known issue with many Entertainment In Video discs released around the same time.
![]() Original post: With Halloween a week or so away, I figured I'd post the following news: Fans of Underworld Awakening 3D, Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters 3D, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D and Priest 3D to name a few, take note: Pre-orders of the upcoming theatrical fantasy action movie I, FRANKENSTEIN 3D, produced by the makers of the Underworld series with Kate Beckinsale, will likely open up January 24, 2014, the same day I, Frankenstein 3D hits theaters in the US and other Countries. JANUARY 24, 2014: Blurb: I, Frankenstein 3D (action fantasy 3D) from the Producers of Underworld. This stars Aaron Ekhardt (Two Face from The Dark Knight) as an @ss kicking Frankenstein warrior with cutting blades and fighting evil in the form of Gargoyles and monsters. Looks very cool. Only caught the 2D trailer before Escape Plan today. Due January 2014 in theaters. Can't wait. ![]() Details at : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I,_Frankenstein Starring * Aaron Eckhart as Adam Frankenstein, a superhuman being created from science using various parts of corpses and electricity. * Yvonne Strahovski as Terra * Bill Nighy as Naberius, leader of the Demons. * Miranda Otto as Leonore, Queen of the Gargoyles. * Jai Courtney as Gideon, leader of the gargoyle army. * Steve Mouzakis as Helek * Aden Young as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, a scientist and Adam's creator. * Deniz Akdeniz as Barachel * Virginie Le Brun as Elizabeth Frankenstein * Kevin Grevioux as Dekar * Goran D. Kleut as Rekem The U.S. release was set for February 22, 2013, but five months before then it was moved to September 13, 2013. In February 2013 it was announced the film would be released in 3D. In April 2013 the release date was moved again to January 24, 2014.On September 17, 2013 it was announced the film would be digitally re-mastered and released in the IMAX format. Keep your eyes out for the theatrical 3D (and 2D) trailer, now in theaters (played before Escape Plan) and hopefully playing before Thor 2 3D this November. (bump thread)
I Frankenstein will be in theaters in 3D January 24, 2014. About 3 weeks from today. I'm going into this one the same way I went to see Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D. I can understand why there would be a debate over Frankenstein doing martial arts, but this is probably a different take on the Frankenstein concept; of a guy stitched together to fight evil instead of being a monster. I hope it's as fun as the trailer looks for the action. 3D will hopefully be strong. No 3D theatrical previews from what movies I saw in 3D lately, but hopefully there will be a trailer in 3D before Legend of Hercules 3D January 10th, 2014. |

Kevin Grevioux aka Raze (the super strong Lycan from Underworld 1 and Lucian's right hand friend, helped create the Underworld stories and this one here as well. Viktor, from Underworld played by Bill Nighy, will also be in this one. He was great in the Underworlds. Quote:

Lionsgate does need some stumbles so they don't get totally crushed by Hunger Games profits. This theatrical debacle will go on the quarterly books at the time Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits home video (March 7th). fitprod |

Anyways I got caught a 3D showing yesterday in Cinemark XD 3D and I loved the movie! Terrific action sequences and a surprisingly thought out and very interesting world and mythology. The 3d was pretty fantastic too (minus some weird looking spots here and there, including one obvious conversion error to my eyes that made me laugh, but again maybe I was looking too hard for errors lol) and there were plenty of pop-outs with sparks and debris ![]() |

![]() ------- This was an enjoyable movie for the most part, I liked the lead roles, and there were a few cool fight scenes. Aaron Eckhart did a nice job as the lead character. Some recognizable faces included, Aaron Eckhart from The Dark Knight playing a modern version of Frankenstein. Bill Nighy from Underworld 1 and 3, playing as the main villain Demon. Miranda Otto if I got that right, from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers playing as the queen of the Gargoyles. Raze (forget his name at this second) from Underworld playing a henchman. The Scientist Female with the Blonde hair from Underworld 1 as Selene's vampire nemesis girlfriend. Have to look up her name, but she was the girl who jumped on the ceiling in Underworld if I got it right. The plot finally revealed its motivations about a quarter of the way in, and kept me interested. I liked the ending but one big extra fight scene would have been welcome. The 3D in I Frankenstein was very good, though I'll rate it medium, with some mild 3D here and there, and during the fire fight scenes where the demons turn to fire, they amped it up to upper medium 3D, close to strong 3D, having viewed it at a Cinemark XD 3D (Cinemark's answer to Imax) theater. Great sound, imagery, special effects, and a very good movie if you enjoy the Underworld movies. It was worth seeing as an action fan. ![]() Last edited by Zivouhr; 01-25-2014 at 10:42 PM. |

Also I FINALLY caught a 3d preview for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and I honestly think it looked good. Maybe the 3d strength was a little down, but I know I caught a strong 3d shot in one of the MTV style quick cut's during the trailer and I honestly think the trailer is wayyyy too short to fully judge on it's 3d strength. I'm still excited for this one imo ![]() |

Yeah, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 3D (part 2) teaser trailer where we see the Chimp's face covered in war paint. The 3D was medium, but still looks good, though they could have pushed it to strong 3D and it would have looked awesome. Pompeii 3D had a new 3D trailer show and this one has me more interested in the movie arriving soon. The 3D looks really good, upper medium with some strong 3D in there. The Lego Trailer's 3D was medium to upper medium, possibly some strong 3D in there also (February 7, 2014). (Lego trailer not shown this time, but just mentioned it because it's the next 3D movie I'll check out). |

![]() And the Lego movie 3d looked amazing too me. I'd rank it as strong 3d personally. And Underworld Awakening is still one of my favorite 3d movies and I don't understand why it gets bashed for it's 3d so much. It has it's mild shots, but the consistently medium to strong depth throughout more than squashed that problem imo |

I often like or even love movies that critics pan. I'm confident I, Frankenstein will be no exception. I've also hated many movies that have been universally praised. In the end, I see the movies that interest me and avoid the movies I don't want to see (no matter how praised and hyped by the media).
