Dear Bob Iger,
I have a proposal for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment: to issue and release, under its 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment banner, for the first time EVER on Blu Ray, "Remington Steele: The Complete Series," a loving showcase of all 95 hour-long episodes of the hit 1982-1987 Crime Drama series "Remington Steele" 100% Complete, 100% Uncut, AND 100% Unedited, just the way that each episode originally aired on the NBC Television Network, each and every episode lovingly restored & remastered from the original NBC prints. Created by Robert Butler & Michael Gleason and produced by MTM Enterprises (purchased by 20th Century Fox in the year 2000), "Remington Steele" was a hit '80s Crime Drama originally airing on NBC from October 1, 1982 - April 17, 1987, originally airing Friday nights at 9 P.M. ET on NBC after "Knight Rider" before finding its niche airing on Tuesday nights at 9 P.M. ET after "The A-Team." At the start of the series, Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) had her own Detective Agency known as the Remington Steele Detective Agency, due to the fact that when she started her own agency, she initially used her own name, BUT found that ZERO clients wanted a woman Detective, so she invented a Male Superior called Remington Steele, inventing every excuse in the book to NOT blow her cover--until that was, a mysterious con man (Pierce Brosnan) assumed the identity of Remington Steele and stuck with it. 2 Pilots were filmed--the original, "Tempered Steele," was filmed in early 1982, but after the series was picked up by NBC, a 2nd Pilot, "Licensed to Steele," set 6 months before the original Pilot, was filmed and aired first. In 1986, after 4 seasons, NBC abruptly cancelled "Remington Steele" due to low ratings BUT in Spring 1987 allowed the show to end with 3 2-hour TV movies which aired in April 1987--the last of which aired on April 17, 1987. In the years since then, Pierce Brosnan (born in Navan, Ireland on May 16, 1952 according to People Magazine) has had quite the career at the Multiplex, from playing James Bond to appearing in numerous other Box Office hit films. For that reason, Bob, it's my humblest suggestion that 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment issue and release, for the first time EVER on Blu Ray, "Remington Steele: The Complete Series" on Blu Ray on Tuesday, August 6, 2014 at a cost of ONLY $99.99 wherever Blu Rays are sold. Sincerely, Steve Arino |
