Default Condo Home Theater

Hello everyone,

I have seriously been toying with the idea of building myself a modest home theater setup. The main hiccup is I live in a condo, so space is an issue and I can't dedicate a room to the setup. Ideally, I would have a setup that can easily be put away when it's not in use.

Currently, I have a 5.1 speaker setup where the 2 front speakers are at the corners of the wall where the TV is fixed, and the center channel is on the same wall, directly above the TV. The rear are on the wall slightly behind my couch. I am worried sound would ultimately end up getting blocked by the screen.

My budget not being infinite, I'm trying to get to an optimal "bang for your buck" type of situation. Traditional pull-down screens that are audio transparent obviously don't fit in that category. If I went with a non-transparent screen, I was thinking of perhaps looking into a soundbar to replace the 5.1 system on those occasions.

Option 2 would be a screen that pulls up from the floor, instead of pulling down from the ceiling. I've found some decent-looking options online and doing some measuring, I'm a little worried that the field of view would be a little low if I position it to avoid interfering with the center channel speaker.

Option 3, the most cost-efficient, would be building my own screen. I've seen some tutorials online that seem doable with my skill set, but I worry the end-result will end up looking too DIY and impact the whole experience negatively.

I'm wondering if anyone had had experience with any of these types of setups and had recommendations?
