Default Need advice...

We have a Samsung HDTV with no audio output for our stereo. We have a PS3 and a cable box. Both have optical outputs.

Our current stereo gets great sound and I hooked up a converter for the analog to digital sound. I have it currently hooked up to the PS3.

I want to connect both.

What is the best way to do it? Is there a splitter to go from analog to digital for both devices?

Should I take the plunge for a sound bar or theater system that has more than one output? I can't afford a lot with that option...probably a few hundred...$300 tops.

Thanks.

So you have a optical cable going to your PS3 to a converter which then sends an analog (RCA) signal to your stereo?

Curious as I think it's the first I've heard of a TV with no audio out. What is the model of your sammy?

Yes, correct.

It's UN60EH6002. I've heard of them without and when we picked the TV, we didn't think it'd be much of an issue.

Is that a typo meaning the UN60EH6000F, I can't find any info on that model!

If it is the 6000F it states 1 optical out and 1 mini jack out. Was your model dealer specific?

You need a switch, not a splitter, so that two devices can feed a single input on your stereo. monoprice.com has them.

Starting to see many models coming out now without audio out.

I am confused, your receiver has no digital inputs? or one optical and one coax?
Does your cable box have coax out (orange)? I am pretty sure PS3 does not.
Can you run Optical from the PS3 to receiver and coax from cable. Being that your PS3 has the best source.

Sorry, my bad. It's a UN60EH6003. It has 2 HDMI ports.
