Default Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Leaked Footage

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/56778

Here's YouTube Video of same Footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Zb0iSWGTM

Looks pretty good. All footage is in game. I'm sure Lucas will have the trailer pulled soon so watch it while you can.

Oh its a guy holding a shaky cam but you can see the footage which looks pretty good.

Don't hold your breath. Free Radical was working on it, and Free Radical doesn't exist anymore. There's a chance it might get picked up by another studio, but who knows.

Anyhow, I credit this leaked footage on various game sites with my success in selling a copy of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for the PC today.

I found it over the weekend, when cleaning up some stuff around the house, and realized I never used/played it, so I figured I'd see if I could sell it. A quick look on Amazon.com revealed the game was going for $60 for a used copy (despite only costing $29 when it was released). I listed mine for $62, and less than a week later it got sold.

I have no idea why the game sells for so much, though I assume it must be hard to find/its not printed anymore.

In the link it says it's a multiplayer. Does that mean strictly like SOCOM? I hope not.

Nope, the past ones weren't, and I imagine this would be more like those. I think there was a single player mode to the game, but the hours wasted on it tend to be playing multiplayer (either online or offline).

I don't remember playing online much, but I played a lot of 2-player offline matches. I haven't played it in years, but I think each person would take a side, and their team would have a few hundred people on it. The PS2 version was only 12 vs 12 at a time (Xbox and PC had higher numbers, I think), but basically you pick away at the opponent's team, capturing bases and whatnot along the way, and overtime end up killing the 200 or 300 people (or something like that) to win.

So basically it was nothing like SOCOM. Faster paced, with lots of re-spawning.

SPOnG reports that a former Free Radical employee has verified that the footage is genuine, but that the game has already been passed to a new developer. Worse still, the tech that allowed you to fly from the ground to air and then into orbit stayed with Free Radical. The new developer, the source says, will now be using cutscenes.

The source did confirm that my careful listening did pick up the correct phrase in the cutscene, with a Sith saying "stick to the plan Kenobi" and that the Free Radical game was to feature another attempt to turn a Jedi to the Dark Side.

No word if that made the hand-off.

And now a moment of silence for what would have been a great game.

Oh man, I have always wanted to try Battlefront online and this is my first chance to do it. Thankfully, its not being published by EA, as I can never get onto their servers, no matter what game I'm playing.

"was" because nobody knows if/when it's coming out. Even if it does, it's been passed on to a new developer, and who knows how good it will turn out (for example, the hover/fly "technology" that Free Radical still owns the rights to will be lost).

Do companies that don't exist really still own things? That seems a bit weird to me, but hell if I know anything. It just seems more likely they would have sold off all of their assets, including this technology, when they dissolved.

Damn that footage does look sweet though.

Yeah, it does seem a bit weird, but I'm just going by what I read. I'm pretty sure Free Radical does technically still exist, but not in enough of a capacity to make video games anymore.
