![]() ![]() The Bird With the Crystal Plumage Blu-ray The Bird With the Crystal Plumage Blu-ray Review The Stunning Debut By Dario Argento - The Italian Master Of Terror In his first film as writer/director, Dario Argento (SUSPIRIA, DEEP RED, TWO EVIL EYES) single-handedly created the giallo genre and instantly emerged as the filmmaker critics worldwide hailed as 'The Italian Hitchcock.' Tony Musante (TRAFFIC, WE OWN THE NIGHT) and Suzy Kendall (CIRCUS OF FEAR, TORSO) star in this pulse-pounding suspense thriller about an American writer in Rome who witnesses - and is helpless to stop - a brutal assault, the cunning vengeance of a maniac, and the heart-stopping horror that lives - and kills - deep in the dark. Blue Underground is proud to present this legendary shocker in striking High Definition, remastered from its original camera negative (including recently discovered never-before-seen footage of explicit violence) and remixed in 7.1 DTS-HD and 7.1 Dolby TrueHD. Illuminating Extras include four featurettes with Dario Argento, Oscar winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, legendary composer Ennio Morricone, co-star Eva Renzi and much more! Audio Commentary with Journalists Alan Jones and Kim Newman Out of the Shadows - Interview with Co-Writer/Director Dario Argento Painting With Darkness - Interview with Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro The Music of Murder - Interview with Composer Ennio Morricone Eva's Talking - Interview with Actress Eva Renzi U.S. Trailer Italian Trailer TV Spots Color English: 7.1 DTS-HD; 7.1 Dolby TrueHD; 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX Italian: 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX Optional Subtitles: English 2.35:1 1970 96 Mins Not Rated Region Code: 0 DVD Beaver has their review Up. I can't wait to buy this disc Nice healthy bit rate and I am sure this is the best looking release this film can get. Blue Underground so far is doing great work with their Blu Ray releases! We can only hope they announce more releases soon. They already have a decent lineup. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...ge_blu-ray.htm Last edited by Deciazulado; 12-30-2010 at 04:00 PM. |

Anyone know if there are any of reviews of The Bird with the Crystal Plumage online yet?
After buying the Stendhal Syndrome(the video was very noisey, probably worst BR I have seen) I am nervous about buying The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. |

I thought Stendhal looked great, the film grain was intact... don't confuse film grain with noise.. it looked like watching a film print. Glorious. Blue Underground has been good so far with not using DNR manipulation.

The colors and details were great but the noise I was seeing I found annoying. |

I agree that film grain and noise are two VERY different things, but I´m not sure that it´s all grain in The Stendhal Syndrome...

iv'e wanted to see this movie for years and really want to buy it on blu ray but lately because of the weak dollar i can't justify the shipping cost from the states it costs more to have it shipped then the movie itself

It's $6.49 for a Blu-ray from Amazon to Norway... It can't be that much more to Victoria Australia? ![]() |

I'm a HUGE fan of European horror movies, but a lot of the old classics (especially cannibal movies) have a lot of animal cruelty in them. Defenders of this say that it brings realism to the movie, but f**k that!! If I wanted realism I would watch the news. I want SFX of humans being eaten and butchered, not real footage of animals being tortured and killed. |

Totally agree about the animal cruelty thing by the way. No reason it should be there at all. |
