Wondering if someone could advise on on these two projectors. I have a limited budget and thus cannot afford the big bucks on a fancy one but really want projection. Any thoughts?
Epson EX3212 SVGA 3LCD Optomo TS551 3D DLP Both roughly $399 Canadian and Futureshop and Bestbuy currently. Both are also 2800 lumens. Epson says 4:3 while Optomo says 16:9. Resolution is 800x600 I believe for both. Thanks ![]() |

Now you can get an Optoma HD66 which is $469 (well Amazon stateside) and I would bet money you would be happier that. The HD66 would be 720p (1280 x 720). Otherwise if it was me I'd wait and save my money for an Optoma HD20 which is true 1080p and retailing for roughly $699 (again stateside though). Heck Amazon sells used HD20's even below $500!. Oh and if you are really set on one of the two you pointed out, I guess I vote Epson, as they are pretty well trusted. I'm also not a huge fan of DLP on the cheaper DLP data projectors as I can see what they call the "rainbow effect" sometimes with them. Last edited by Flatnate; 04-25-2013 at 06:32 AM. |
